They are probably about 7 years old.  If I remember right there was breakage issues with them.  They went about 40 bucks as a rod/reel combo.  Just curious...where'd you find them and what did you pay?

I've got two and like them a lot. I used elec. tape to hold the real on and it worked fine. I also bought mine at Mardens ,for 4 bucks. For that price you  cant go wrong.

I was wondering how old they were.....Got several about a year ago @ "MARDENS DISCOUNT" (our local salvage dept store).......I believe I payed around $12.00 for the first couple & liked 'Em a lot; so I went back & got several more @ $4.00......They do have a breakage issue....The handle is pretty flimsy.....You don't want to drop them on the ice..The handle will crack or colapse......But must say that they are my "FAVORITE" Jig Rods/ I wish I would have bought more.....Thanks for the info,....Lou

**I stole this idea from Icejunky**

Rather then use electricial tape (which can leave a sticky residue and can be slick) try using hockey tape.  It's abbraisive and when you take it off shouldn't leave the sticky stuff behind.
