My only complaint about opening day of trout this year is that is a saturday, so everybody and his brother will be out clogging up the streams.  MY wife and I have a tradition of both taking the day off from work and going fishing.  To us, that is the first day of spring.  At this rate the streams will be in late april/early may conditions on the first.

I fished with Jighead and Friend on Cayuga yesterday in the boat.
We had a great day catching lots of those tasty Fingerlakes Perch.
I was using an 8.5 foot ultra light.....man was it a difficult adjustment from a 24 inch St. Croix Premier ice rod ::)

I'm really getting antsy...the ice is only barely safe, and we still have 2 1/2 weeks till trout opens.

Just want to get back out there and get started.

AugustWest, the lakes low. where did you launch the boat? I was also out there same day. I launched at unionsprings. got out early morning started to rain and blow got off the lake and of course it mellowed out! fished at mud lock through some old holes casting and pitching pimples into the old holes kept 25 perch 8 and 9'ers. how did you do? any size?

Well it's like a blizzard outside here right now in CNY and the temps have dropped like a rock. The temp will not get above freezing the rest of the week. We will see if Canadarogo can be saved !
