Yeah i have to go with perch now that i have had crappie. I think perch are so much easier to clean. I do have to say i would not turn either one down. I clean them rinse them and drain them. then get a gallon bag fill it 1/4 of the way full. then add black pepper, buck seasoning, and some garlic salt. then I add the fillets to the bag and shake it then put in frying pan with about 1/2 inch of vegtable oil.

Depends on the day.  Some days I catch perch and I like them the best on those days.  Some days I catch Crappie and those days I like them the best.
If I catch a mixed bag of crappie and perch I like crappie and perch the best, that day.

Carp? hope that was sarcasm.......What ever ends up on the line- ends up in the bucket as long as its legal....from the bucket to the fillet table. Its tough to beat lightly breaded perch though.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Pondskipper, try flouring the fillets, then dropping them in an egg wash with a bit of Tabasco or some Franks, then lightly breading them with fresh rosemary in with the bread crumbs.

I get a lot more perch than crappie, so I get a little more excited about crappies.  They do taste different, both great.  Probably mostly in my head, but I would have to say crappie.

ive caught both and i have eaten both. i like perch better because they are so much easier to clean. it takes me the same amount of time to clean 25 crappies as 50 perch. and way more scales too. but crappies are a treat every now and then, and they add some variety

My post was going to be like this one, nearly word for word. The perch #1 guys might reconsider if they tried fillets off a 13" crappie. They don't call them slabs for nothin'.

perch,poor mans shrimp

Lets see

$300 for the shanty
$100 AguaView
$100 rods/tipups
$29 NYS Fishing License
$50 Gas and Bait, food, drink
wear and tear on my truck and all the "honey do's" I have to perform to go fishing.

For 20-30 perch x 10 outings

30 lbs of perch meat maybe after filleting/dressing

$579 divided by 30 lbs

That's $19.30 a lbs

Shrimp is $5.99 (with bonus card-$8.99 without) 20-30 count.

Shrimp is poor man perch!!! ;D ;D ;D
