-
both
-
perch
-
A....yeah....perch or crappie....hmmmmm..... ...yeah!
RG
-
both are great but if I had to rank them, crappie first
-
tuff call but i gotta go with crappie
-
A....yeah....perch or crappie....hmmmmm..... ...yeah!
RG
me too!
-
Gotta say perch first
-
Dont eat anything that comes out of water but if i did it would be crappies
-
I have been eating perch every night. I want to find some crappie. Its been a long time since I have had crappie.
-
You can't beat a good mixture. Add walleye to the mix and you're good to go.
-
Crappie! :)
-
i go to the pond because you can get a nice mixed bag of fish. yes i prefer crappies but you can not beat a nice mess of blue gills and perch. crappies are a bonus!
-
Crappie, no Perch wait, Crappie or Perch yeah Crappie I mean Perch. :)
-
Crappie! better tasting meat
-
What do you prefer to eat perch or crappie?
That is a tough call ... I'd have to go with Bluegills! Then Perch and Crappie ... although Waldos are at the very top of the list!
-
Perch fist, crappie second, but both are excellent table fair.
-
Perch first, just because don't get scales everywhere when you fillet them.
-
Didn't know there were other fish to catch. I'm only getting perch on my line.
-
Perch and crappie! ;D
-
YES ;D
-
CRAPPIE
-
You know, if you stop and figure how much it costs to go out and catch them, what with the cost of gas, bait, tackle, time out of work and family, these fish are probably worth $250/lb! ;)
At those prices, any fish dumb enough to hit my presentation is likely to find it's way into the fryer!
Open wide fishy, the doctor's here ;D ;D

I hear you there. I caught one walleye, one steelhead, and the rest perch. I want to get into crappies bad.
-
crappie for me !!!!
-
i have caught at least one steel head each year out on the pond over the last 6 years. i guess there is worst things to catch!
-
i'm going to say crappie but there both awesom,i'v yet to try bluegills
-
If I had to choose I think I would have to go with CRAPPIES.....
-
pickerel, mmm tasty
-
i would go with perch because, for one i havent really caught alot of crappie and two, iv never had it before. i love perch thouhg, i cook it on a frying pan with alot of butter, some garlic salt, and some cajun pepper because i like the spice! im assuming that cooking crappie is done the same way?
-
fresh their both great, but crappie are best when fresh. if they were frozen once they both taste the same. i dont know why crappie just dont have the same zahh after being frozen to me
-
Yeah i have to go with perch now that i have had crappie. I think perch are so much easier to clean. I do have to say i would not turn either one down. I clean them rinse them and drain them. then get a gallon bag fill it 1/4 of the way full. then add black pepper, buck seasoning, and some garlic salt. then I add the fillets to the bag and shake it then put in frying pan with about 1/2 inch of vegtable oil.
-
I'm willing to here some other recipies if you guys are willing to share them.
-
Depends on the day. Some days I catch perch and I like them the best on those days. Some days I catch Crappie and those days I like them the best.
If I catch a mixed bag of crappie and perch I like crappie and perch the best, that day.
-
Carp? hope that was sarcasm.......What ever ends up on the line- ends up in the bucket as long as its legal....from the bucket to the fillet table. Its tough to beat lightly breaded perch though.
-
Pondskipper, try flouring the fillets, then dropping them in an egg wash with a bit of Tabasco or some Franks, then lightly breading them with fresh rosemary in with the bread crumbs.
-
i'm going to say crappie but there both awesom,i'v yet to try bluegills
ARE YOU SERIOUS? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? :cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo:
-
THE NAME SAYS IT ALL!!!
-
I get a lot more perch than crappie, so I get a little more excited about crappies. They do taste different, both great. Probably mostly in my head, but I would have to say crappie.
-
ive caught both and i have eaten both. i like perch better because they are so much easier to clean. it takes me the same amount of time to clean 25 crappies as 50 perch. and way more scales too. but crappies are a treat every now and then, and they add some variety
-
Never had Gill. I cant get them to bite. I watch them all the time looking at my bait. They look tasty :(
-
perch no crappie no perch oh wait walleye but they all taste the same in my beer batter. so hard to decide!!
-
What do you prefer to eat perch or crappie?
perch,poor mans shrimp

My post was going to be like this one, nearly word for word. The perch #1 guys might reconsider if they tried fillets off a 13" crappie. They don't call them slabs for nothin'.
-
Crappie all the breaded and deep fryed
-
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?
-
perch,poor mans shrimp
Lets see
$300 for the shanty
$100 AguaView
$100 rods/tipups
$29 NYS Fishing License
$50 Gas and Bait, food, drink
wear and tear on my truck and all the "honey do's" I have to perform to go fishing.
For 20-30 perch x 10 outings
30 lbs of perch meat maybe after filleting/dressing
$579 divided by 30 lbs
That's $19.30 a lbs
Shrimp is $5.99 (with bonus card-$8.99 without) 20-30 count.
Shrimp is poor man perch!!! ;D ;D ;D

I gotta say thats a hard one to call for me, I usually get more perch than crappies and both are welcome on my dinner table! I usually jig upa few sunnies when going for perch and thery are fantastic.
-
id have to say perch, you get more for your time ;D(the only reason crappieassasin says look at the name is because thats as far as he would walk panfish areas) walleyes are the best
-
If you get in the rite area you can do Yellow perch, white perch, Gills, and some slabs all in one day.. Now that is a fish fry.. Throw in a eye or 2 and bam it is on

How do you know what walleyes taste like? You have to catch some before you know what the taste like!
-
Crappies!
-
I do in joy catchin crappie and im good at it,but i got a case of perch fever.Of coarse the perch are being uncooperative so theres allways slabs. tightlines & be SAFE out there
-
I love crappie as long as their not too big...I keep the small ones. Here in MI many guys through them back or switch holes when they start pulling up the crappie...I think we take them for granted at times.
-
Put me down for perch.
Unless somebody's hiding some walleye.

Boy thats a tough one.... I would have to say when you get those Jumbo perch through the ice... they are tough to beat. When my dad comes up from GA I ask if he brought crappie and he asks if I have perch? go figure!!!!!!

I used to think Bass was nasty (small mouth) until a friend of my taught me how to bleed them out while still alive. 5 gallon bucket, fill it half way, stick your finger in the gill area and yank out 1 or 2 of the red thingys. Kinda mean but makes um tasty... Lakers do taste like poop. I smoked a big large mouth once and man that was good!!
-
So i should change my name to CrappieGuru? ;)
Dude I might have to change my name to "The Perch Punisher"!!!

-
have to go with the gills ,perch and crappie ,but they end up costing me very little ,i live 3 mins from conesus ,so gas is minimal ,but i prefer going to canadice for gills, perch and crappies due to larger size there
-
Hey CA nice bucket' just sent you a pm about going out on the lake. looking forward to the day
-
ratings: walleye, crappie, gills, bullhead, pearch!
-
both might as well throw ice gillz in that mix to. ;D
-
gills, perch , walleyes under 212 inches any water that does not run into lake ontario that includes ibay sodus etc even the small ones suck imo and cold water crappies are great, but thats gotta be cold water, dont like the early fall soft meat....
-
pearch then gills
-
"Dont eat anything that comes out of water but if i did it would be crappies " Might want to try lobster, shrimp.clams ,even tuna, never had a tunafish sandwich, fish fry (haddock,walleye.)?. Just wondering do you drink water? I like crappies but they are down the list.
-

Walleyes under 212" ... WOW that's over 17 1/2 feet long! Might get expensive mounting that one ... need at least a 4 ft. hole too ;D
... no seriously, I agree ... under 21" for walleye for me too from most waters ... let the "big breeder grandma wallies" go I say. Although one nice 14# walter for the wall would be nice ...

I'm learning this too... prchslyr fried some at moms a few weeks ago. i'd say the crappie taste way better.

Rankings : Walleye, Perch, Crappie, ..... I think CARP are last on a very long list!
-
I love them both but if I had to choose I would say crappie then perch but if you were taking a nice big eyes fillet then that would win hands down
-
