If anyone doubts the presence of methane pockets while ice fishing here ya go-

My buddy did catch one perch thru it. Only 11ft deep the perch were in 17 or so-

Cool. Probably not much trouble turning the fish up through the hole!
Are these holes from methane seeping through from underground or from weeds decaying, etc? If it's seeping from underground- any frac'ing going on in the area?

It’s actually a lot of fun. You can google lighting methane pockets to get an idea of what it’s like. It helps to have two guys one to hold the torch and the other to break the pocket. I almost singed my eyebrows off on a big one last year.
