Title: polar bird shelters
Post by: Papa Sly on Jul 17, 2017, 10:05 PM
Has anyone heard if polar bird has made any changes to their shelters by adding the windows as they said they would do last year? I would really like to sell my Cabellas 4 sided if they did like they said they would.

May I offer a suggestion, Papa Sly?

Go to this link, scroll down near the bottom of the page and click on the big block "Question" and ask them.       ;)2

Good luck with that!!! I tried that last year and got no response period. I think they go into a summer hibernation. Plus I heard our rep got married and was on a honeymoon. I also tried this with no results.....

Dear friend,
Thank you for you patience.
I will refresh our website probably this week, so you can see new model.
They will be available for sale in the end of September.
Thank you!

One new item

https://polarbird.com/menu_campingtents/

I would guess that new ice tents would be similar in size and shape

Still nothing, and the owner said he would have the site updated last week. Sent another message and still no response. this was my fear with these shanty's, bad customer service! And they are a sponsor here on the Shanty...someone should have a talk with them. This is not the way to get people to buy a new product when their communication and service is this bad. Many others have written to them also with no answers.

I have found a solution.

I've been studying the logistics of production.

Specifically new model years.

I've been on decaf for nearly a month.

I'm also practicing a well known military tactic, WAIT !     ;)

I have no problem with waiting, I have a problem with a new company selling a new product that looks really good but you have no idea how good their service is. So the only thing you can go on is their word when they say something will be done. When it's not and then I don't get an answer after I send an email and others don't either you have to be leery about what happens if you have a problem and need to contact them! After all this is not a $2 jig, its a big investment!

Looks like we won't be seeing a flip-over this year!!  ::) One larger window on one model?? Was it worth the wait??? Hopefully there will be more later!! They need to fire up the Polar Bird thread so we can ask questions and get some answers! ;)

Yea, I was going to buy but 2 small windows on 1 side only doesn't cut it. Guess I'll stick with mine for now.

I've PM'd Polar Bird and Evan Pheneger both, plus posted on their thread to no avail!! I don't know what's up!!!  ???

Like Idahogator said, give them time...like a few years I guess. If they can't even answer questions imagine how good their customer service must be...LOL To bad because it is a real good looking shanty but 2 small windows on 1 side is not listening to the feedback they got last year from many and many Shanty members!

I don't know any details, but Polar Bird appears to have had an ownership change.  Nikolay Krupelnitskiy, who represented himself as the President from day 1 up until recently and had originally applied for the Polar Bird Trademark, etc., no longer lists himself as owner or even co-owner of Polar Bird on facebook.  Instead, Igor Gladkov, Owner/President of Alfa Towncar Corp in the Bronx, NY is now calling himself the President of Polar Bird per his response to Papa Sly.  Everyone needs to understand that these gentleman are not ice fisherman, nor are they manufacturers.  They are Russian businessmen/importers looking to make it rich in the US.  I assume a marketing/distribution/licensing agreement was reached between Krupelnitskiy and Denis Stepanov, the owner of Snegir, in Russia in 2015.  http://snegirfishing.ru/catalogue/category/id/1/  In Russia, the shelters are called Bullfinch and are Red/Off White as opposed to the Polar Bird Blue/Off White.  The shelters are manufactured in China by Arcadia and sold for $30 to $80 each in volume.  Arcadia also makes a BAZILLION other kinds of tents and tarps and shelters.  I would bet Arcadia also makes tents for some of the other major US players as well.  https://campertent.en.alibaba.com/product/60629837917-209371897/3_layers_heavy_duty_Oxford_pop_up_quick_open_ice_cube_fishing_tent.html?spm=a2700.8304367.prewdfa4cf.38.3d5b29b25mWZXN

It will likely take some time for Mr. Gladkov to get his feet on the ground in the Ice Shelter business, since the connections/agreements Krupelnitskiy made with Evan Pheneger and the other Pro Staff may now possibly be null and void?  I have yet to see Polar Birds advertised at the retailers that I know Krupelnitskiy was trying to get the shelters into; Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas & Mills Fleet Farm to name a few.

A good bit of what I have written above is purely speculation on my part, so take it for what it's worth.

I always knew there was something really suspicious about them. I strongly suggest that they should be investigated if they are to continue being a sponsor!

Several of us have been trying to get a hold of Polar Bird for some time now! This explains the silence! I hope they get back on track and bring out some new products incorporating suggestions by our members, such as windows and their location! Be nice to see what they could do with a flip over!! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what shakes out!!

If a Polar Bird pro staff knows nothing and hasn't heard from them it's likely we won't!

I can think of a few other pop up options supported by vendors that are not going anywhere....
