Last year I asked you to "Take The High Road".
This year I'm asking you to "Take The Pledge"
Every year we see a bunch of threads about trash and such left on the ice.
I'd like to suggest that we all "Take The Pledge" to carry a trash bag with us when we go on the ice..... for our own and what we find from others.
What an outstanding example to set!
Repeat after me;
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I promise!
RG

I promise!!
Always have, always will!!
Great post RG!!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
last year i took the high road...which i do anyway with out the pledge.matter of fact i quit fishing with a dude cause he kept leaving ciggy butts on the ice after a heated conversation i said have a good season let me know how you do...the guy is such a tool.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see. I do it year round, anyways !
P.S. Hey RG, if I locate the owner of said trash, Can I give it back to them ? >:D
-
Agree, agree, agree.
Always amazes me how some "outdoorsmen" treat the outdoors.
-
I actually did that once Surf. Not on the ice, but ....
I went to hunt one of my favorite backyard squirrel stands only to find that some dirtbag had dumped a truckload of garbage bags, paint cans and furniture at the parking area. I did some sleuthing and came up with 2 discarded bills with an address. It happened to be down the street from my house.
I went to the house and the dirtbag was in the process of moving out. I did the "Alice's Restaurant" routine on him.
"Son, I found your name on this letter at the bottom of a pile of garbage......"
I gave him 60 minutes to show up and pick up the garbage or I'd call the DEC, State Police, County Sheriff and Coast Guard (it was along the canal. I told him that if he picked up the garbage and took it to the landfill (1.5 miles away) I'd let him off the hook. He showed up, picked up the garbage and I followed him to the dump.
I guess he irritated me a bit :-\
RG
-
Count me in.
-
Agreed. It is one of my biggest complaints about people out on the ice. Take it with you, you took it out there
-
Awe Shucks RG, I was hoping you would say any body cavity will suffice ! :roflmao:
-
I always leave with more than I bring. ;)
-
I'm all in with this!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
-
I have made this pomise years... ago in Scouting, "leave everything better than you found it." It's as good today has it was years ago. WTG, RG
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
Pack it in, pack it out.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag not only for my own stuff but what I find on the ice.
-
U carry it in,U carry it out!
-
Thank you Gentlemen.
I'd like to see around 500 NY's set the bar for the other states...come on guys...it only takes a second of commitment.
RG
-
One of the first things I learned in Boy Scouting was "LEAVE NOTHING BUT YOUR FOOOTPRINTS" -- have always followed that principle!!
Pack it In / Pack it Out"
IceBalls
-
I Pledge RG.
I have a tradition on every fishing trip. I pick up at least one thing on every outing. This is something I really got serious about when I started to take my oldest son out with me. I always talk to him about how "I don't understand why anybody would leave thier garbage just lying around". We talk about how that is not what we do and how it makes the outdoors look like a trash heap and takes away from the beauty of it (no matter where we are). It really feels good to know I'm getting the next generation started right. Once I get my two youngest boys going out with me (their only 2 1/2 so they have until next softwater season) we will be bringing home even more junk. If we each do our part things will hopefully get better.
-
Agreed
This is something where an ounce of prevention saves a pound of work.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
You can count me in among the 500 RG. Now I just have to remember to buy a box of garbage bags keep some in my vehicle and the rest with the fishing gear. I'm old enough to rember the televison commerical with the crying native american standing in a pile of trash.
Steve
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
Leave no trace.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.

-
I will pick up any garbage I see. And if I dont have a garbage bag, I will just throw it in my hut like I always do. And clean it out when I get home.
-
I promise to pick up and put in it's proper place all my trash (as I always do). I also pick up trash from others and to empty my pockets of that small trash I fill them with BEFORE my wife does laundry
-
i always have the extra bucket in my shanty that i tell everyone around me is a garabage can just put it in there. I always end up bring a bucket full back with me every time
-
Thanks guys...keep em coming
RG
-
I promise to pick up after myself and others.
-
Count me in. Always try to pick up on way in at end of day.
RG, can I make a suggestion that we all make an effort to have something that floats on 50 feet of line on the outside of shack. I have a boat fender that I am painting orange that will be hanging from my auger outside fishtrap. If anyone has a better idea, let me know.
George
-
Always have and always will. I dont even leave a butt on the ice. If I see somebody drop it I will say something. It just takes 1 slob to ruin it.
-
I promise...
-
I promise! (from WI) This is "just how I roll!" Camping, Backpacking, Hunting, Open Water, and (my favorite) Ice fishing!
-
I promice to have a bag with me on the ice at all times and not only pick up after myself, but the rest of the people that feel the need to go home with less stuff than they got there with.
-
I do it everyday I'm a Head Custodian in a school district it's a shame people are so irresponsible. The Outdoors are to be used not abused !! Don't be a jerk !!!
-
I also take the pledge to take a garbage bag out on the ice. As others too have said here, I routinely pick up junk at boat launches, stream sides and even along the 2 mile country road that I live on. Amazing at the number of ignorant "sportsmen" out there.... >:(
-
I promise to pick up after my self and others with a garbage bag,and if I happen to see the culprit that left garbage behind,I then will extrapulate from my pocket an empty garbage bag. With said garbage bag, I will place over the mindless skull of the perpetrator and have them breathe in heavily.
-
Bravo! Let's keep it clean out there. I already have left 2 anchors and 1 prop littering the bottom! I'd pay to get those back!
-
i too will take the pledge to help keep the water that i fish on clean. i will also keep a trash bag in with my stuff. i will also pledge to make other people a ware of their ways if i see it happening. but i also know that not all garbage can be provented but i will do my best to avoid it from blowing out of my stuff.
-
Great idea RG!This will also make EVERYONE think of this when they fish these majestic waters around us.I will take the pledge.
-
me and kgbny have a buddy that always leaves his beer bottels, i work for the canal you should see the propane bottels in the spring at lock 5 in minneto thats a ways from onieda thats the only place i can figure they came from! good luck on this rg but people should know this allready! if they havent caught on yet thety probly aint gonna! tell them there kids will apperiate the garbage for years to come that they threw all over! >:(if that dont work stuff ther ass in a hole for chum!

-
Yes sir... Been there , done that.. And will keep on doing it... ;D ;D ;D
SAME HERE!
-
I like it, and I will continue to clean up after other yahoos!
-
I definitely do. Not hard to pledge for something I do already.
-
I promise! Every year the same old problems happen: trash and people not respecting private lands....
All it takes is one SLOB to spoil it for all of us.....
Dan
-
I too will make an effort to pick up after others. My plan for this year is what I like to call "The Forced Trash Pickup Initiative". Basically, this is how it works:
1) I see someone throw their garbage on the ground.
2) I approach said person...
3) I ask them to please pick up the trash and dispose of it in a responsible, outdoorsman type way.
4) They either honor this request in which case I thank them and leave, or they laugh and look like an idiot.
5) (Assuming they laughed, I remove Springfield 1911 A-1 .45 ACP and demand they pick up the trash or their trophy **insert species fish here** will receive a thorough tenderizing.
6)Watch as the terrified "sportsman" removes his trash, his "trophy" fish, and himself from the ice. Leaving a yellow and or brown trail behind him.
7) Laugh like a crazy icefisherman and continue my lovely day of freezing cold wind and just being outside in all of its glory. 8)
-
i will do this with pride
-
I'll take the pledge and leave nothing behind but my creeper tracks.
-
I'm Good i will take that pledge! and like it to. <"(((><........ Jeff

I like your way better!
-
Take only perch, leave only holes.
I also vow to drill holes for others who don't have a power auger when the ice gets deep. Last year a guy started in on 20 + inch ice with a hand auger and we came over and hooked him up. As we were leaving I heard him say to his son "See, I told you fishermen were good people." You know the kid will remember that. And it's true.
-
I too take the pledge!
Thanks Rg!
-
Have been doing this......and will keep doing so! I Promise
-
Yes sir. always will. I also teach my boys the same.
-
count me in! sad what it looks like out there sometimes
-
I'm in also. Nothing worse than being able to tell where someone was fishing by the garbage they left !!!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag on every trip and to pick up any garbage that I see..
-
im with you guys bigfish
-
This is going very nicely. Thanks a lot guys. I knew we could count on you.

Bart nailed it.

I'm in for other peoples trash p/u. I Pledge. I fish with some smokers, so I already carry a coffee can for butts, bags take up less space.
-
I am there!! Always was. Hunting or fishing!
Mark
-
I PROMISE TO TAKE A GARBAGE BAG WITH ME ON EVERY FISHING TRIP (ICE OR OPEN WATER) AND TO CLEAN UP AFTER MYSELF AND OTHERS!!!!!!
-
count me and Tyler in there RG. ;)
-
Always have, always will
-
I always pick up trash wherever I go. The biggest problem is when I go to Sodus Bay and pick up a bunch of 315ers. ;D ;D

-
I am definitely taking the pledge, and further pledge to get my children involved in any clean-up we see on the ice.
PAWaide
-
I promise to pick up everything and anything on the ice that I wouldnt want on my floor at home... pick up after yourself unless you bring a maid with you on the ice...
-
I can't take the pledge, I use behold ;lemony fresh behold on all my furniture ;D, i will definitely carry a bad as I always do . I pickup trash thoughtless others leave behind too.
-

-
Lemony fresh lol!
-
I promise to continue picking up stuff that blows by me and stuff left behind by our lazy counterparts ;D
-
I'm in and ALWAYS will be ... Me and little UPSTATE are ALWAYS picking up after some slobs :%$#!: :nono: ... So he has been learning the ... concept of " CARRY IN .... CARRY OUT .... AND THEN SOME "
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see. ;D
-
I do! ;D
When I go fishing or hunting, I pick up garbage all the time,(sad to say we have to, up here in gods country) even when I take the kids target practicing we fill a couple of bags of garbage when were done. At work we have a Large trash bin that I can use, I once picked up a pool liner out of the bush, I drop off fridges and stoves at the metal scrap yard too. The guys at the scrap yard know me so they don't charge me to empty the freon out of the fridges. :)
-
i promise to pick up anything i see laying on the ice that others have put there like garbage, cans, plastic, perch, walleyes, tip-ups, rods ect....... but seriously i already do ;D
-
Fish Greenwood Lake & u can make your gas money in recycling........ & I promise
-
I pledge to pick up after the scubags that leave trash on the ice
-
I've always done that. It's good to see so many others in on this. We have to to keep what access there is left.
-
I'll pledge 'cause I'm an ICER...I'll Cleanup Extra Rubbish
-
Im In!!!!!
-
time to load up prchslyrs new car ;)
-
Not sure I'll start taking a bag to put the trash in, but I DO pick it up and throw it in the sled on my way out or in and throw it out when I get home or will drop it off at a Stewarts trash can on the way home if needed to stop for gas or warm drink. ;D
I'll take the pledge to pick up the garbage and trash left behind in my ice fishing travels!!!!!
-
i agree to this pledge, stop trashing the lakes we love
-
... taking the Pledge here – make it as close as we can, or better then when we arrived – showing appreciate for the ice, and even more importantly – the “access” to it … seems it gets a little harder every year to secure good access …
Last year’s end of year clean-up efforts by ICEshaNTY members on Chautauqua lake, NY (see link below) … let’s make it a smart, ongoing effort all year, to keep it clean, orderly, and respectfully quite for lake property owners … everyone of us, plan on our access, for this ice season … we need it !!!

Great stuff guys
Kudos to you for taking some of your time to show the local property owners that Ice Fishers are good citizens.
Now, if we can JUST find a way to convince the other 36,000 members here to "TAKE THE PLEDGE" ..... ???
RG
-
If you can pack it in,you can pack it out,it should be lighter. My moto is leave the ice and woods like you found it.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.

Im pledg'n.
Already started.cleand up some bud cans off the last of the dock at the small boat harbor yesterday while I was perchin. They are actually lighter to carry when empty imagine that.
can't wait for some reports.
-
I pledge as well to clean stuff up as I see it. Also if I see anything left behind as far as belongings to people I will try to get it back to them.
-
I pledge but i cant stand the slobs >:(
-
good to be back hope the wait to fish isnt tooooo long I pledge to pick up junk when I see it and throttle any one i see leaving a mess ..to you guys who do we aint your maids or your mother..
-
My six year old son and I are onboard. Like others, I'm baffled by how some people treat the outdoors. Wonder what their own houses/properties look like?
-
I am not surprised by people's messes. I work retail... I wholeheartedly believe everyone should either work retail or in the service industry for at least a year to realize that YES you really DO need to pick up YOUR mess. I can't stand picking up after people at work and especially when they drop it right in front of my and walk away. Someone's going to get drug back to their item and forced to pick it up eventually. Sorry to jack the post, just had to say it.
-
This isn't about complaining...it's about taking action, saving access, projecting the image we emulate, and paying it forward.

I agree with you too, be polite and show respect to all others on the ice. The best way to teach others is to let them see you carrying out trash be it others or your own.. the point is you want to communicate a good message not instigate trouble or do the opposite of what message you are trying to convey. When I am outdoors fishing, I try focusing on being happy because I am priviledged to be out fishing and having a good time. If I witnessed another littering, I would not start into that someone for throwing trash but, just humbly pick it up and hope by example that person/persons will eventually learn to do the same.

I absolutely pledge to bring off the ice more than I brought on the ice!! Picking up not only my own stuff but the stuff others may have left behind whether on purpose or by accident!!

I TAKE THE PLEDGE!
-
It doesn't matter where you are from, there are always more slobs than those willing to keep our lakes and rivers clean. I have always taken more out than I've carried in. I guess I'm taking the pledge as well.
-
Ill take the pledge and be on board
-
We pledge to pull as much garbage off the ice as possible...and bite those that litter.

I don't want to stray off topic here, but those are two of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen....and that's cheating...having them pull your sled.
I love it and I'm impressed.
RG
-
I wosh the dec mandates no glass bottles on any ny waters.. I hate seeing broken glass for cutting pet dogs and wildlife >:( second to this is disgarded fishing line that can snare birds and other wildlife. Any plastic racks that hold them six and twelve cans can hurt too so please pick these up and scissor them into pieces and throw them in a garbage bag. If you can carry it in, you can carry it out ;) take care of what we have left to appreciate .

Thank you!

Always have, and always will. Anyone with kids or who take kids, have them take the pledge as well as yourself. remember children learn by example. Have a great ans safe season brothers and sisters.
-
It's something I've done for a long time ! It'll be no different this season. Trash bag or the bottom of my shack, trash will get picked up !
I don't know how Trapper will feel about getting stuffed into a plastic bag every day but I'll try like HeII    ;D ;D
I don't want to stray off topic here, but those are two of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen....and that's cheating...having them pull your sled.

RG
That's not cheating at all ! Matter of fact, I just bought a harness for HT so he can pull my shack around this winter ! ;D ;D
-
I agree. ;D A trash bag has always been part of my Monday morning equipment....I can use my sled all week for what little trash is out there....but on Monday morning sometimes even one bag isn't enough? :-\
Like i always said.."The TRASH shows up on the weekend" :P
-
I have done it for years, but now I pledge to take a trash bag on the ice and pick up any trash i see.
-
Raising my right hand......I PLEDGE!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
I've been doing this for years. This is something my family and I practice in all our outdoor activities. I was a Boy Scout as a kid, My wife was a Girl Scout and is still involved in scouting. We practice this on our family camping trips and when we go geocaching. I practice it when hunting and fishing. It really gets me steamed to see how people abuse our beautiful natural resources here in Michigan. Our motto is: Leave the area cleaner than you found it!.

Last winter i was fishing in my all time favorite spot.Six guys come out and fished near by,i went over said hello, showed them some good spots ware to set up.We all got some nice fish drank some beer and had some good laughs. When they left beer cans and trash littered the ice! I took it all with me. If i see them this year i will get a nice group photo of them, and the trash when they leave, and i will put a pic of them dirt bags on this post. Just maybe they will have learned something.

I Promise

okay enough of this topic, how do i unsubscribe to it.. it is getting too goofy ::) no offense but really! ;)
-
Yes sir, always have, always will.
-
its something i always do and will always do...idiots who trash our lakes dont deserve to enjoy them.
-
I promise to clean up I built a sled with this in mind 2 years back always pick up as we walk off
-
Nothing burns me up more then when slobs leave their garbage on the ice. Garbage bags are always on the supply list... right with the toilet paper! Never hit the ice without 'em.
-
I Pledge to carry a trash bag and use it as always AND to speak up if I see SCUMBAGS trashin our resourses. :flex:

As I like to do even without taking a pledge..
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.

I will honer the pledge. I don't understand the thought process, because the garbage weighs less on the way off the ice than it did when it was brought on the ice! Take it on, then take it off! Last year I went under jiggtipper for a name, but had trouble getting back on with so I changed to trebblehook. Hope to see ya all out there on the ice!
-
I promise I will as always, even as i grumble under my breath what slobs we have around here and have no respect for our resources.
-
I bet if some co gave a but ton of littering tickets out on the ice and in parking lots people will get the message,.....chamount bay is garbage dump from all those people fishing there,...propane tanks and cig buts bum me out too. I vow to take the pledge,.............oneida had some ice on it the past few mornings,.....maybe next week sometime the beg bay shuffle,...probably not,....but sandy pants maybe frozen next weekend
-
I'm in on the pledge- always have my Wegmans plastic bag with me- unfortunately you know that it will put to use :-\
-
You ant to know what I think nowadays? It is much easier cleaning up garbage generally speaking anywhere and anytime.. from garbage in our fragile great american outdoors to the filth software programs on the freeway of the internet and broadcasting digital programming ; So, on topic imo, today I cleaned up alot of trash and bagged it to take to the headend facility tomorrow for them to do what they wish with such trash..Very important news to reveal to those who continue using cablefision8)" NEVER ON CABLE AGAIN " Forget about it! news 12 is finished! those oh so annoying repetitious optimium commercials GONZO forever!:P FIOS install went so smooth today even with all this wind rain etc.. One excellent installer got a nice tip:) tv hd is unbelievable! soooooooo much better hdtv picture quality with fiber to the house:tu: no more messy coaxial birds nest coming into my home!!! very neat.. soooooo many more features and my samsung hdtv changes channels fast now with no annoying lag time..internet is faster as I type..our subscription monthly rate beats cablefision by at least 50.00 american dollars per month and we are getting more channels like I never would have thought!!!!! Wish I went FIOS long time ago when it was first available.. all I can say is FIOS IS THE BETTER DEAL ALL AROUND!!!! Stick it to those Dolans, they are scamsters advertising fooly! This is the truth and I plan on spreading the good news! enjoy cleaning up the trash good people ;)!

Sorry MT. That's not what this thread is about. It's a show of strength...solidarity if you will. Sportsmen, Ice fishers in particular, standing up and saying, "I won't leave that trash there, even if you will!"
It's not about your TV or internet. It's about setting an example.
My mission is to encourage our fellow ice fishers to show that we really do care about the places we fish.
RG

well put RG and if i have not already said this i have already took that pledge many years ago and always will. i am getting ready to talk to a marina that sometimes allows parking at there place for ice fisherman once again like i do every year. last year the owner was very reluctant to allow it because of the trash left in the parking lots and out on the ice. i say this every year people * IF YOU BRING IT OUT FISHING THEN BRING IT BACK WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE DONE. end of story. lets keep our fishing areas clean and respect the property that we are all allowed to use to get out on the ice. same goes for open water season and anytime of the year. YES that is what this thread is about people 8)
-
I agree 100% with you RG, it is good to encourage everyone to keep the trash where it belongs. It sickens me to see signs of litterbugs. But I couldn't find an off topic discussion thread under new york and I really am excited about switching over from cvc to vz fios today!!! if you want me to delete or better yet, if you could kindly move it to the proper discussion thread I would appreciate it. To me cablevision is truely trash compared to FIOS now that I see what I been missing.
-
I promise, because if we don't clean it up then it ruins the fishing for everyone.

I would, but...I'm retired from Moderating. No problem though, we appreciate your support.
Thanks Sunfish.

I will go "out of my way", to pick up trash I see on the ice, and in parking areas. Carry a trash bag with me.
Tough to understand what those that throw their trash out there are thinking. I guess it's that they are NOT thinking. >:(
-
I actually did that once Surf.
RG sometimes if you call the police. they will try sifting through the garbage for investigation tracing the evidence back to these law breakers. I hope they do get caught eventually. People need to understand the birds and fish and little animals do not deserve pollution from miserable pollutors!!!! only miserable evil people litter because they live miserable lives. That is why they need to be heavily fined and taught a lesson just like anyone breaking a law.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see. Even if it means chipping it out of the ice.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
Dawg- I fish Chat. quite a bit and cannot believe how many slobs fish there and leave their garbage. The Mayville parking lot is always littered up as was the small lot at the Bell Tower.Last Feb. a couple of residents at the Chat. Institute stopped me and thanked me for picking up beer cans, wrappers and said that if the littering does not stop, soon none of us will be able to fish there! The worst was when I walked out on the ice at Mayville saw litter buried under the snow and slush where they had drilled and set their huts!!!I When they left, they buried it in the snow! If you can take it out with you, then its no big deal to put the garbage back in a bag and get rid of it properly. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies when non fishermen see whats left behind!
-
I pledge to continue to take out what I bring in and anything I find on the ice. Im glad my father taught me that when I was young.
-
Always have always will...
-
U carry it in,U carry it out!
Agree!..you push it in and you pull it out hardcor, ain't that right? moderator pm me lol
-
i will take pledge alonge with who ever i bring on the ice
-
I promise to pick up the trash I see, as will my kids! But first we need some iceeeeeeeeeeeeee! :)
-
im in.our crew is one that leaves none.im cheap and the cans are worth $$.and lighter by days end.we also make sure all of our meal garbage is bagged and thrown away
-
Definitely.
-
i'm in and as allways my load is heavier when i leave the ice!
-
Great Pledge!!!!! I'm in!!!
Stay on top - - - - Be Safe!
-
i am in for that. i started bringing a extra garbage bag with me halfway through the season last year, because the amount of trash left on the ice made me sick. why must people be so lazy?
-
In like flynn!!!
-
Pledge me in. A few bad apples make us all look bad.
-
leave no footprints. I pledge to leave it cleaner than I find it, always have always will
-
Last year I asked you to "Take The High Road".
Repeat after me;
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I promise!
RG
RG,
I promise! It really is so simple that we shouldn't have to but unfortunately...
-
I will continue to do this, i pledge also....Barebow >:(
-
I will be on clean up duty this year !!!!!
-
I will as always pick up any trash I see on the ice!
-
Amen but there will still b scumbags leavin stuff out there
-
i always try my best to pick up after others and ill tell you if people like us didnt....there would be no clean lakes.
-
I do solemnly swear....
-
count me in
-
Not to take away from the topic of this thread but if we are all swearing to clean up the ice who leaves garbage behind?...I know it's the ones who don't swear to clean up garbage on the ice. On occasion some stuff becomes lost in the snow or becomes victim to the wind, but who in the right mind will leave stuff/garbage behind?(have seen it done many times, lots of ***holes out there) I just think it is great that sportsman like all of you care enough to clean up what they love!
p.s. thanks to those who thought they would donate there $0.05 deposit/can into my ice fishing fund!...
-
well it looks like we got a bunch of great people on this site. looks like our lakes will be clean this year if we got anything to say about it. haha
-
i'm in, I've filled a sled a couple of times
-
I have always picked up after myself...and others, and I promise to continue doing so! I have taught this practice to my son throughout the years, summer and winter!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I'm all in
-
Great idea I am in. If you see a guy chasing garbage down the ice help him out if u aare close. I always see people just watch it go right by. Do the right thing. Maybe youll catch some fish too.
-
Will do. Been picking up other's trash for years, good call though, RG.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag on the ice with me and pick up any trash i see.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag on the ice with me and pick up any trash i see.
-
I'll take that pledge and already practice it nearly everywhere I go. Parking lots get a little overwhelming at times and one guy can only do so much! I do make a point to be visible about it at ball games, parks and such, just doesn't seem to rub off on others. I also have a little tip, I carry a small neopreen camera case stuffed with grocery sacks in the truck and always take it fishing, camping and such. So nice to have an extra bag or two for fish or trash.
-
always throw garbage I find in the jet sled or bottom of the packbasket, the worst is when the people you bring are the culprits. It can be rather awkward when you go around picking up a friends cigarette butts...
-
I always carry extra garbage bags with me if anyone needs some stop by the Denali being towed by a white phazer
-
We always leave the area in the shape we found it or better ( if someone else was a slob out there before us). Hate litterbugs on and off the ice.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
I've always taken back more trash than I brought in. It's nice to see that my son does the same when we're out in the woods or fishing. People are lazy these days, so we gotta pick up the slack.
-
Amen. I'm in too!
-
Im Down
-
The pledge is a great idea. Count me in too!
And its not just the ice, but the parking areas and the woods/trails leading to the ice. I think that is what most non-fishermen see that gets them angry (i.e. hikers, homeowners, etc). Let's not give them any reason to take our access points away!
It would be great if we could get the other ice users in on this too (the snowmobilers and cycle racers). I know that there is a little crossover between us and them, so I would urge all you guys who know people in those circles to encourage them to do the same.
Looking forward to seeing the cleanest lakes/ponds in years!
Tight lines!
-
I,, "Take the pledge" to carry a trash bag with me on the ice and remove all my garbage and pick up and i see along the way.
-
Hey...this could turn into a "MOVEMENT"......Kinda like the "Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement" ;D
Sorry, only the "old hippies" will get that relate.
Those tree huggers don't have anything on us!
Thanks to everyone.
RG
-
im in. i take the pledge!
-
All the guys I fish with in my group have always done this as a regular part of our routine. We've even found stuff folks have left out by mistake in their haste to leave for some reason and where possible have gotten it back to the owner when they could be found.
Good post. Good pledge. Good luck, and be safe out there.
-
i think picking stuff up is just part of life, i'm sorry it is but ..... i like to think that most trash i have tossed in the trash was a accident but heres a 100% truee story
few years back i was trapping coyotes and fox on a power line , i had a yote working a pre set and knew it would be a easy hook up , i set the trap and went home. on returning the next day i was shocked someone litterally dumb truck loads of trash on this very spot! and i mean truck LOADS ...i looked threw the stuff went to oswego collage , thats where the dec schools was at the time and they sent a officer out he was as shocked as me , but..... the low life scum bag trash dumber did one thing .... he threw out his court papers from child support with his name on them ..... bingo the dec (whom is a very good guy and loves the outdoors and fellow trapper) was as delighted as me and payed this dumbster a visit !!! the sad thing the oswego county land fill was just a few miles from there! this stain was to cheap to pay 5 bucks to dumb this so he decided to toss it next to my house ,top it off i find out he's a licenced hunter and fisherman !!!!!
-
I don't want to see any fish carcasses dumped on Big Bay this winter either   ::) ::)
That will really pith me off ! ;) ;D
-
I'm in.

I took this pledge a long time ago and not only honored it but passed it on to my boy. This first couple years he was all like, " Dad, why are you picking up someone else's trash?"
Now, he picks it up as well.

i pledge................ .....but i would like this to include not leaving fish on the ice.every year i see volumes of fish (white perch around chapman's park and lewis point on oneida come to mind) left to rot on the ice.yes seagulls eat some of them, but i would rather see them put back to catch another day.
-
Always carry extra Aldi's bags with me for others trash!! To tell you the truth , I don't see much trash on the north shore Of Oneida Lake.. Alot of good people!!!!
-

YES!!! Oneida lake North shore maniacs are #1 !!!!! ;D
Seriously though, One sentence fits the bill perfectly, " Whatever goes out with you comes back" except of course used bait! ;)
-

The DEC has ex[pressed many times that if you're catching white perch and are not going to keep them, kill them ! Leaving them on the ice is OK as long as it's legal (which it is as long as the distance from shore criteria is met)
The white perch are taking over the lake and will create problems for the yellow perch and walleyes. The only real predator they have is man (except in the spring time when they're near shore and in the creeks)
Something to think about ! ;)
-
This ain't about fish! It's about saying "I'll pick up that trash, even if you won't !" Let's not get off the subject please, this is going well ;D
RG

you're right RG! i'll start a throwing fish on the ice thread if needed! LOL!

Blah, Blah......I would like to think that all the personel that loves this sport enough to put the extra time in to post on a forum, should be respectable enough to bring trash back home? Maybe I'm ignorant and wrong though.
Don't let me catch ya though... I am not such a nice guy when it comes to littering the environment where I find solace and great food all in one happy package. :icefish:
-
I pledge to keep eveything as clean as i can. When the fishing is slow I round up trash every year. Was thinkin about puttin a couple of 55 gal drums to maybe help some guys toss stuff in there instead of around on the ice.
-
Always do anyway, but I take the pledge!!!
-
I PROMISE,ALWAYS CARRY BAGS WITH ME,ITS JUST A SHAME THAT THEIR ARE LOSERS OUT THEIR THAT DONT CARE
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
Happy to be back in NY, Love this forum
-
count me in. :)
-
I always do ive seen some great fishing areas and hunting grounds posted cuz of slobs not picking up after themselves.
-
i'm always in!! i've been cleaning other people's mess year round. too many ignorant people that call themselves "outdoorsman" but don't act like it. u bring it out, u bring it back!!!! its better in the long run so we dont have problems with locals denying access to popular lakes, you can only push em so far. be safe!!
-
I pledge to pick up any trash I find on the ice and pack it out with me.
I always hate it when I see garbage out there and get angry that some one did that. I just hope most of it was due to a wind gust blowing it away from someone's fishing hole by mistake. I've had it happen to me once or twice. (You get up off the bucket to grab another pole, the wind takes the bucket and whatever was in it down the ice at 50 MPH!) - No catching it.
There does seem to be an abundance of people without any common sense nowadays 'though. Just leaving junk lying around for the wind to take it away for them.
-
I PROMISE!!!! Who knows maybe we could get a couple new hali's or pimples with the soda and beer cans and now water worth 5 cents return
-
I think I took it last year but I'll take it again this year.
You pack it in. You pack it out.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I promise!
Steve
-
Always have a little garbage bag on my sled, never walk past garbage without picking it up.
-
I always have and always will!
-
promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see!
And if I don't find any garbage, I won't let my bag blow away!
-
Extra garbage bags packed ...
-
I know me and the 5 guy i go with all take at least one if not a box of bags...so count us in!!
-
I state my name,to pledge to pick up all trash and garbage that is anywheres near my fishing spot and my shanty also where I park,I will also not kill any fish I do not intend to eat,i will not leave rinky dink perch or any other fish on the lake,I will not overly pollute my body with alcohol on the lake,I may exaggerate alittle when I tell a fishing story.
-
count me in it only takes one idiot to ruin it for all of us
-
I'm in loaded garbage bags in sled today.
-
Easy enough
-
I take the pledge and so will anyone who goes out with me.
-
Hear hear!!!!!! If you don'T HAVE A TRASH BAG PUT IN THE BOTTOM OF SHANTY. Plus pick up what you see . Rule of thumb always come back with more then you came with. That also applies when you are walking
in the woods. Besafe and have a great year.
-
i promise to take the pledge!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
-
I actually did that once Surf.

Fantastic...I'll take the pledge, always have, always will. I was a Scoutmaster for a long time & the one thing we drilled into the Scouts was "Leave an area better than the way you found it." Pick it up even if you didn't do it.
-
I'm down. We need to start calling the slobs out!
-
Count me in too. :) :)
-
I whole heartitly agree. Let's all keep our hard water clean
-
great idea will do everything i can to pick up

Well done! Arlo.....
Yes, I do the same, bring a garbage bag with me and pick up whatever trash is near me, if any.... I will continue to do so.
Its the fastest way to lose fishing access. You be a slob, you ruin it for the many, many folks who are not.
If we all do this, our resources will be much healthier and enjoyable for amny, many years to come.
-
Following the words from my dad {God bless his soul} "the only thing you leave behind is your footprints."
-
The only "slobs" I like to see on the ice are the ones I put in my perch bucket and I shall continue to pick up after the "slobs" I don't like to see.
-
My thanks to everyone for showing the better side of fishing.
RG
-
i take the pledge and what i do is fill my bucket 3/4 full of trash then toss my fish on top i look like a hero coming off the ice ;D
-
Gamma said you do that anyway ;D

-
ive taken the pledge my entire life .wheather in the woods, water or ice.picked up a pizza box n beer can this morning off whitney point.
-
This is a great idea. I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
I'm in, that's how I roll.
Seems like every fishing bait, lure, line, hook, etc. etc. comes with a whole lot of packaging...way more than we need as fishermen...actually the packaging can be a pain in the a$$ when you're out there. I'm amazed and dismayed by the amount of waste I generate through my fishing hobby. So you need to have a garbage bag out there with you, or else people just end up throwing it somewhere. Not me, but some people do that, and these people suck.
Personal accountability means everything, and people need to care for the places they enjoy. But why do companies package these things the way they do, because it conflicts with the way so many of their customers live their lives? We're a pretty environmentally-conscious community. Why don't the companies we buy from package their products in a more sustainable manner?
Just food for thought, it's something that bothers me.
-
Ditto, nothing worse than a bunch of slobs on our lakes and in the field, thanks for the idea.
-
I'm in.
-
I'll take that pledge!!!
-
DEFINITELY!!!!! Its a great thing to know we are all committed to preserving our environment and access rights.
Kuddo's to ice shanty and everyone signing on.....
-
I've always believed in picking up trash on the ice and else where, took a pledge when I got my degree. Glad to see so many support good conservation. I'm in. ;)
-
Always pick up the trash! Crap on the ice ruins the scenary!
-
i find lots of garbage like the package of the jigs is what i find the most.. :o i even take all the garbage from summer too like worm cups and old line cups..its a good thing to do and i think everybody should too ;D
-
Hey did you say you found a package of jigs?? Those are mine along with that twenty dollar bill you can just send them my way
-
ive taken the pledge my entire life .wheather in the woods, water or ice.picked up a pizza box n beer can this morning off whitney point.
How did everyone miss the second most important post in this thread? Who the heck delivers piping hot pizza to you on the ice, and what is their phone number? :woot:  :roflmao:

-
it should be a way of life
-
taken ;D
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
always keep clean
-
Great idea and you're absolutely right. Its a shame how much trash people leave, especially when you think about how easy it is to bring a bag with you and do the bare minimum to keep the area clean and garbarge-free.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
First time for a long time for me will be tomorrow. Hope to see a nice pristine Lake top, but I will be sure to have a trash bag along.
-
;D Always carry out your trash - I might be crazy but not disrespectful - Mikey
-
I will always pick up my trash and pick up others so we have awesome place to fish for next time.
-
I Promise!
-
whatever I bring on the ice I take off, with the exception of the thermos of coffee,of course.
-
As a fisherman, I will always carry out what I bring in.

Agreed!! I was there today picked up a bunch of trash, I also noticed a lot of fish on the ice left for those dam rats with wings... :%$#!:
-
I'm in.. as an owner of a very small piece of shoreline, I'm amazed at what washes up. How simple to take your stuff with you.. if you see the pigs call them out... hell, shoot em.
-
I'm in....Granddad always taught me to leave it cleaner than I found it.
-
Walking off the ice at Sandy pond today, my wife pointed out the biggest pile of human terd and toilet paper I think I have ever seen. That person must have felt like a bomb went off dropping that pile! To make matters more pathetic, there was a coors light can stuck in the pile also. I almost took a pic of it, but decided it was disgusting enough. Sorry guys, I did not bring that back with me in my trash bag. ???
-
From reading these posts, I can see that most people have respect for nature and wouldn't think of leaving trash anywhere. A few people seem to ruin it for the rest of us!!
-
Wow this pleadge thing is really taking off. ;D
-
I agree to carry out any garbage i find on the ice. my 5 year old grandson already knows better than some of the adults out there
-
IT'S A MOVEMENT!
-
GREAT STUFF, I'M IN, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN!!
-
Always go out of my way to pick up trash of the scum who think its ok to leave their empty propane bottles, beer cans, etc, (not touching cigarette butts though) on the ice. It's like they don't care that when the ice melts all this trash will be in the lakes. So I def take the pledge and always will!!!
TC
-
I am with all of you we have to take care of our fishing spots so we can keep fishing there there are some places that I fished at in the past and now we can't because of others leaving trash around so I take the pledge to pick up after the PIGS
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.

I've been out 4 times now and picked up peoples garbage everytime so far. I have to clean my jet sled out, other peoples trash every time I go. We are always picking up other people's trash. Unfortunately, I have to teach my kids that some people just don't care, and we pick up their garbage too. My dad taught me long ago, we always leave our location in better condition than when we found it. Pass the pledge on to your kids.
-

When folks see you drop a dead perch or pickeral on the ice they think we are killers and don't care about being a sportsan. They are watching!!

Unless they r pig perch!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
picking up your trash is just about respect - if i see some slobs out there (including summer) i'll let em know "hey ya forgot something" -
then they give ya that stupid look like it was an accident - but they will usually pick it up - they know whats right they just can't help momma raised a little piggy

-
im in and have been not only on the ice but off. great pledge and thanks!
-
nothing worse than seeing a 1lb propane can on the ice or pile of beer cans etc..., I see that, I just have to pick it up. Plenty of room in my dumpster.
-
I was on Glen Lake a couple times this week and both days I harvested cigarette butts and Coors lite cans. (livin' up to my pledge!) Also included were used disposable hand warmers and plastic packages. I can't believe a person would litter on a lake, it really does reflect on us all. What gets me is when you witness someone flipping a cigarette and say something, they seem insulted or ready to mix it up. >:(

-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
last year i took the high road...which i do anyway with out the pledge.matter of fact i quit fishing with a dude cause he kept leaving ciggy butts on the ice after a heated conversation i said have a good season let me know how you do...the guy is such a tool.
i smoke
and no matter where i am outdoors, i always rip the filter off and pocket it,
end of day generally have pocket full of filters i then dump in the trash,
as for trash bags,
i use small wastbasket bags that i keep in the car,
use them all the time to pick up trash outdoors,
can also use any plastic shopping bag,
keep them in the car, can always use them
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
thanks guys. brought my ten yr old son on the ice today. showed him everything u bring on the ice you take back off! wish more sportsmen would follow the same rule. not only on the ice but also the woods and streams! oh yeah and teach the younger generation to also do the same.
-
I'll take the pledge.
I was out fishing about two weeks ago at a small boat harbor not to far from my house
And I got there took all my gear outa the truck and as I was pulling it down the parking lot to the ice
I see some ass hole throw a McDonalds bag out of his window... its made me pretty mad so I
Stopped went to his window and asked the guy if he could pick up his garbage
He then told me no but I could if I wanted to. Well this made me even more angry so I. Had my
Brother lugg the stuff down to the ice and I walked over to the other side of the parking lot
Where I had seen the border patrol earlier. I told the officer what I saw and what I asked him to do
He said ok I'll go over there. Well the guy got a 100 dollar ticket for it!!
-
I promise! It's amazing how irresponsible, disrespectful and uncaring people can be.
-
Well its not much, but I did hall a six pack of cans off the ice this week, "that I did not drink".
-
I promise! Working changing my cigarette butt habit. I have an extra bucket for them. I forget that I'm not in my shop. :-\
(http://)put them in your pocket
-
Well its not much, but I did hall a six pack of cans off the ice this week, "that I did not drink".
That's a lot, in my opinion. Thank You!
RG
-
WOW...Who the hells garbage have I been dragging off the ice with me if its none of you guys.....This site brings up a good point and allows us all to feel like we really want to be part of something good! I imagine that the average person on this site is a little more aware of their environment and our sport..and all outdoor sports! As it goes with all great authors...Very nice pieces of literature here...JUST DO IT AND make sure your buddies do it also!!!!! ;D ;D ;D i did..i am..i will
-
Already been on board with this even before this initiating post!
-
indeed it is sad the amount of people that come out to enjoy the outdoors only to use it as a dump for the things they dont feel like taking care of
-
Agreed, always have and always will. And will teach my kids to do the same.
I just find it funny that guys get mad when someone who normally allows fisherman access posts their property. Usually these same guys that get mad are the ones leaving trash, tearing up the yard with a machine, or just not respecting the property in general.
Until the day every fisherman takes this pledge we will keep losing access to lakes and have our sport taken away.
-
I actually did that once Surf.
RG
well done! You're nicer than me, I would've....well, no sense going there!
-
took 2 bags w us on sunday. ;D
-
always do! ;D ;D ;D
-
Same rules as camping and hunting.... if you carry it in, carry it out
-
I take the pledge! Been doing it well before the environmental movement really built up steam in the 70's. Learned it in the Boy Scouts many, many years ago (amazing how much more I now appreciate the things I learned in the Scouts). Brought up all 3 of my sons to ALWAYS pick up any trash they see while outdoors. A few years ago my wife and I spent a couple hours of our ice-fishing day policing up garbage a group of very drunken, very belligerent guys left on a pond in NW CT. I wasn't happy but, having learned the hard way, I know when NOT to pick a fight (which in my case is to NEVER pick a fight)! Good thread, tight lines to all.
-
IM IN.Bag is always in the sled.
-
I'm in. Took home someones McDonalds bag full of wrappers off the lake Thursday.
-
Im in been doing it my whole outdoor life and im 56 years 'bold'` cant seem to keep up in the city though !!!
-
Prometto.
-
I picked up garbage this weekend. Also left behind were 12 or so 8-10" perch, frozen solid, why would someone leave those behind???? ??? ???
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I have lost access to fishing spots because of others trash. I always carry out what I bring in even if its a gum wrapper! I have always picked up after the slobs before me too.
-
Last year I asked you to "Take The High Road".
Repeat after me;
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I promise!
RG
I promise!

Always have and Always Will.........DD...... ;D ;D ;D

-
Count me in, seems like we are always picking up trash after trash
-
Always Have and Always Will!!!!!!!
-
Walking off the ice at Sandy pond today, my wife pointed out the biggest pile of human terd and toilet paper I think I have ever seen. That person must have felt like a bomb went off dropping that pile! To make matters more pathetic, there was a coors light can stuck in the pile also. I almost took a pic of it, but decided it was disgusting enough. Sorry guys, I did not bring that back with me in my trash bag. ???
Shoulda drilled a hole and went chummin' fer mudpuppies!!
-
I take the pledge as well.
-
i take the pledge!
-
I PROMICE  :icefish:
-
fished small boat harbor 1st time picked up more trash then fish ! PATHETIC >:(
-
If I see tash I always pick it up no matter where I am. So I take the pledge.
-
No brainer, I wouldn't even leave a cigarette butt out there. My sled is the perfect trash receptacle, just clean it up after I get home. I always bring an extra bucket too. use it as a seat and then as a trash can for when I pack up. Pisses me off to see people leave their garbage out there, they just don't get it. You can't fix stupid
-
I promise to do that. I hate slobs. They give us all a bad name.
-
I also pledge. Got beat up once a few years ago by a group of high school kids skipping school when I yelled at them to pick up their garbage. The game warden saw the whole thing from across the lake and they got what was coming to them.
-
Got to my shanty a couple days ago and it looked like someone had a party there, I picked up coffee cups, butts and other assorted garbage including an empty quart of southern comfort; all around my shanty. Later in the day when we had a fish on a guy came over to check out the fish when he said he and his friends did very well on this spot two days ago. I asked him if any of his friends drank southern comfort and he smiled with a yes. I showed him the bottle and the trash they left and told him I did not appreciate that, he apologized as he flipped a cigarette on the ice. ::)
-
Nice, just the type of dirtbags we need on the ice.
-
Will do, saw a mess on Sandy Pond yesterday..... >:(
-
I will officially "take the pledge". I have been throwing others trash into my sled as I walk around on the ice. I REALLY cant believe all the trash that gets left behind. I mean would these people just throw their coffee cups and drink cans overboard in the spring too?? I can't believe people would do that.
-
When I got down on the ice last week, there were beer cans and cigette packs all over the ice, I picked them up and threw'em in my sled and took them home to recycle the beer cans and put the trash in the correct place. I hate litter bugs!!!!!!!
-
DID IT AND LIVED IT!!! (and will teach it to others!!)
-
Have always done it! Doesn't take many brains to pick up after yourself!
But, you'll always have the arseholes that don't care about anything besides themselves.
-
I'm in I take the pledge
-
i always have rg and have passed that on to my 4 kids every since they wanted to throw that gum wrapper out the window! ages are 7 to 15! its the only way to roll!

Thanks for going back and digging up this post. I was out for a hike with my camera the other day and had to choose my shots so as not to include a trash pile. Too big for me to do anything about :-\
Thanks for supporting this everyone.
RG

As always, I will do my duty of cleaning up after myself and others that cannot.
JMS

As much as i hate picking up after other people, I hate seeing my backyard and other fishing holes cluttered and dirty from other peoples LAZINESS even more. Therefore, I will pick up trash and other non-natural crap left behind by others, as well as my own. Thanks to everyone else

Actually Rg my comment was 100% true, we did see the pantyhose or whatever they were & everyone turned too each other & said "sorry I'm not getting those" that was on the walk out. Teasing cheif, well that just goes with the territory.

I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see. I hate to see garbage left behind.

I take the pledge. I always have a bunch of trash bags stuck in the back of the seat on my hut just in case I need 'em. Eskimo quickflip 2 has a great spot in the backrest of the seat for light items like trash bags.

I pledge to always carry an extra garbage bag to give to the knuckle heads that seem to always forget theirs!I approached a whole gang of trashers offering them a bag to pick up their trash, told them i understood its easy to forget to bring a bag. They wanted on the outside to wipe me on the ice,but on the inside they thought if I was crazy enough to ask 4 of them to pick up their garbage,I might be nuts enough to take them up on the offer. One thing for sure I'm glad they bluffed, they kept the trash picked up,and the next day they thought they had taken my fishing spot when I showed up,they reeled in and moved across the lake :woot:
-
Always have and always will, who wants to fish in garbage and filth!

I was taught to "leave the area cleaner than I found it".. I've always done this and I will always do this..

I'm in on the pledge. I will actually be hanging my new garbage cans in the pop-up. One for garbage and a much bigger one for beer cans! ;D

I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
Excellent post man, my dad has taught my brothers and I since we were young to leave a place cleaner than you found it. I always pick up shells and cans I find in the woods while hunting and pick up discarded fishing line and such while fishing. Don't throw my rubber baits in the water either while I'm bass fishing
-
Always room for garbage left behind on my sled!!
-
I am in I promise
-
first post of the season...Im all in with "The Pledge"....Nice to see so many signing on!
-
I pledge as well...this is something I convey to my kids whenever they go out with me...start em young before they develop bad habits!!!
-

-
I always have and always will pick up trash going out and coming in I keep a few extra garbage bags just come and ask for some
-
Always
-
I pick up trash left by others from the ice, stream beds, lakes, parking lots etc. I pledge to continue and encourage my buds to do the same. I believe it catches on. I've seen positive results in areas I used to see trash. I've passed this on to my girlfriends kids too and they pick up trash now without me mentioning it.
-
I pledge as well, I usually come off the ice/water with more than what I came with..and I'm not just referring to just fish!
-
Clean ice = clean waters = happy fish.... most of us remember this " Give A Hoot Dont Pollute "
-
great post agreed
-
i will take the pledge as i love to fish and love the open waters and ice i will do my part and have in the past
-
I promise to fallow this pledge were ever I go.
-
Always have, always will.
-
Always have, always will.
x2
-
I always take more trash out with me - I just wish I could find a way to take the "trash" that goes flying by (no farther than 10 yards away) on their snow machines off the ice.

-
I promise! I never have left garbage on the ice. And I plan to be more proactive this year at picking up gargabe on shore and on the ice when I see it.
-
I take that pledge
-
I pledge and I always do anyway
-
Pledge Taken!
-
I promise. When I was a kid my Dad took me on a fishing/camping trip and he made me pick up all the trash from the next camp site. Been doing it ever since.

Thanks everyone!
RG

I've always done this. I hate slob fishermen who leave trash after fishing. This makes thing bad for all. So many times landowners put all fishermen in a category because of
a few slobs.
-
I've always done this both for myself and others. Even cigarette butts get picked up!
-
Will do, always do.
-
Always will!
-
Way to start Perch Girl!
Welcome and thanks!
RG
-
I'll take the pledge !! Though I've been doing this for some time. It incomprehensible that "sportsmen" leave behind their garbage.
-
Leave it Better Than You Found It. Because the Long and Short, is that We are all Just Borrowing the World from Our Kids. Remember to Carry In, Carry Out...
-
new to site, my first reply but i agree totaly ! pick up your trash and set a good example for others.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
I have been doing this for years and may I suggest that since most of use are total outdoors men and women we always have a bag in our pockets when ever we venture out and about . Takes up no room in there and it just feels good to do your part
-
I promise. Rather its hard water or soft. If we dont care we cant expect the people that allow use access to care either. Keep it clean-Keep it open!
-
I'm always picking up after other waterfowlers, so picking up after people on the ice is no problem for me. Carry it in, carry it out. Not complicated, doesn't matter what sport your into.
-
I SUPPORT THIS THREAD.
PLEASE, don't be a scumbag.
-
My brothernand I were out today on The Pond in Fair Haven. There was quite a few people out today and tons of trash left behind. Propane bottles, cigarrette butts, bottles, fishing line, and hand warmer packs. People piss me off.
-
Pack in, pack out.
-
i agree i always pick up garbage off the ice at the end of the day. but i think i have a better approach that saves me from having to pick up as much. you need to stop the problem at the source. i always watch for litterbugs when they pack up and start to leave i will ask them to pick up there garbage. like i said in the other posts chances are when these slobs leave there is a fisherman within site that could stop them. if we all promise to watch for and say something to these scumbags. we could all pick up less trash and the problem would get better.
-
I'll take the pledge. Always have and always will!!!
-
RG, YES...always have and always will!
-
I promise, as I have always picked up garbage. ;D
-
always pick up never leave keep water clean
-
Always bring my trash home with me, always leave the water clean
-
i pledge to take more off the ice than i brought in (including fish)
-
PROMISE
-
Sorry a lttle late but i am in. Always take a look when i pack up to make sure i got everything. The only thing i wont pick up is peoples ciggy butts
-
I promise.... carry in carry out. Always leave your spot better/cleaner than you found it.....
-
On my way off tonight i gotta stop and pick up some empty cans i saw on the way on. Can't understand how you can't take your stuff back off the lake!! It will take 5 min if my time, and its worth it.
-

Promise
-
Promise, I'm already teaching my young ones this and they love to pick things up.They are only 2 and 4 but they somehow understand that we need to not only pick up after ourselves but sometimes some trashy others as well. Its obvious that these others that leave stuff I cannot judge, as they don't have even the intelligence of a 2 yr old. We have to leave things cleaner than we find them if we want these gems to be there for future generations. Way to go Sportsmen and Sportswomen!!!Keep up the great work and lets be great examples of how we should treat the places in which we love!!!
-
Promise
-
I take the pledge! Would they treat their own land that way, lets hope not. its a privilege not a right!!!!! WE NEED PLACES TO FISH!!!! Pick your mess up, your mother is not fishing with you!!!!!!
-
PROMISE!!!
-
Promise. Always leave it cleaner than you discovered it!
-
I PROMISE !!!!! I've been picking up garbage where I hunt & fish for 40 years.....I guess some things never change, some people are just slobs.
-
Ditto, except I don't hunt!
-
BUMP....I PROMISE
-
I will and have.
-
I was fishing with a buddy on Cazenovia Lake yesterday and found a fisherman had left three cigarette butts on the ice. I picked them up and put them in a sandwich bag. Just pick it up, why do smokers feel they can just throw their butts anywhere? I am a Scoutmaster and that goes against everything I believe in. Just pick it up!
I promise to take a garbage bag with me and pick up trash from now on.
Rant over....
Jeff
-
I will and have. I picked up some empty Arizona Iced Tea cans that someone left behind on shore on Canadice Lake the other day. Too pretty of a place for pigs on the ice.
-
I will, and do also.
-
all ready do.
-
10-4. Every time I go out.
-
will and have always put my cig butts in my pocket every time and always bring a black trash bag with me
-
Great idea!! I'm on board.
-
608 committed ice fishers. Does my heart good to see this alive and kicking.
Thanks everyone
RG
-
I pledge to take my trash with me, Hell the sled is always been my trash can and going with the boys they make more trash then I even can believe.
-
;D
-
I always bring my trash home AND pick up after the "PIGS" when I am out! I do this year 'round. I can't believe what people discard on the ice but they seem to be even more PIGGISH in the summer by leaving garbage all over the boat launch, especially when there are trash barrels available to pitch their garbage in! FRUSTRATING! I am curious what these people's homes, garages and vehicles must look like on the inside? Thank you for the post RG!

Their homes & garages are probably clean because they leave their garbage everywhere else. >:(

You are probably correct ICE WANDERER! An "ANIMAL" does not usually dirty their own den do they?
-
Glad to see this topic up and running again myself, especially after some of the pictures we all got to look at again recently. Disgraceful! As a plus for me personally this year, I am happy to report that I only saw minimal amounts of trash left behind this year on my favorite lake, and no empty propane cans stuffed in the holes. The typical cans and coffee cups here and there, butts, but no major trash sites like I've seen before. Maybe some of this is topic is starting to sink in?? One can only hope!!! Thanks RG.  :icefish:
-
I agree also to do my part ....carry it in /carry it out.
-
I Pledge, Watched 2 good citizen's walk from ellis cove to the wire's and back, and both had bag's full of garbage. Unbelieveable
-
pledge taken ! every little bit helps on all bodies of h2o ! ;D
-
I never took the pledge , It is automatic where i happen to be ;)
-
The other day I spent about 2 hours with my grabbers and a trash bag picking up at one of my spring time haunts. There were a number of people fishing there. Not one offered to help. Even as I picked trash from between them.
Most disappointing.
RG
-
Good for you RG. Last Thursday I fished for the 1st time on a lake & I couldn't believe the amount of trash I saw on the ice. I did pick some but there was way to much of it to get it all. Not just trash but there were some blocking left behind from permanent shanties, I wish these piggish people would learn to keep our lakes clean, it's only going to hurt our fisheries.
-
Thank you RG sorry you had to be a grabage collector instead of a fishermen. The next time out to this spot if you have to clean up again drop some remarks while picking up for others to hear. Some fellow anglers maybe surprised that someone would take the time to clean an area. Might even want to give the local media a call before your next trip a TV news story or newspaper article may wake some people up.
Steve
-
I was fishing the marina on tippi lake and there was a garbage bag stuffed in a hole. pulled out the bag and it had POO in it!!! people like that are who ruin fisheries and ruin the privilege for us to go fishing.
-
I really don't mind a few "trash trips" in the spring. It's selfish. I like feeling the satisfaction and accept that there's a lot of people who just don't know any better.
È quello che è
RG
-
i have always picked up after the "slobs". when i go out in my kayak its filled by the days end from all the crap i pick up. its unbelieveable what trash people will just leave for someone else to pick up. >:(
-
Took my daughters to a local fishing hole to do some cleanup duty and a guy fishing threw a beer can toward my kid and said "here ya go kid nice job" and started laughing? We had words and after I finished a couple others cheered but what the heck!?Come on people!!!!No the cops weren't called<I was tring real hard to set a good example.
-
Good for you :thumbsup:People like that make me just want to spit on them.
-
I pledge
-
I pledge,

I agree :) i take a garbage sack in all my fishing gear. Even in the summer..
-
I Promise.
-
I promise to pick up others trash
-
I pledge
-
I pinky swear!!!!!
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
All the smokers that flick their butts on the ice are gonna get words from me this year too. IDC who you are, how big you are, or how much more of a die hard you are. That's dirty and disrespectful to Momma'Dukes. I wont tolerate it anymore.
-
pack my trash out with me year around even have my kids help pick up trash
-
I always do. Love the outdoors and do what needs done.
-
I take the pledge even though I always pick up trash and fishing every outing I go on
-
I always bring a bag or fill the back of my truck. There is a spot on Champlain where some of the locals are real scumbags. Yeah prchslyr you know where I'm talking about. You know the saying. " you can't fix stupid and ignorant people will always be ignorant. "
-
Gives me hope to see this still alive and going well.
Thanks to everyone for raising your right hand.(http://library.c3entertainment.com/wp-content/uploads/1936/05/DisorderRaiseHand.jpg)
"TAKE OFF THAT HAT!"
RG
-
I PLEDGE!! probably find a lot the next few times out with all the wind lately.
thanks to all that continue to pick up the mess and set good examples for the little ones.
-
I'm in!!! I have started to pass this down to my little ones, a garbage bag is now part of our tackle loadout. Sad that we still have to do this !
-
Im in every year and continue to do so always stuffing stuff in my pockets even hunting season!
-
Agreed! ;D
-
I couldn't agree more.I always take an extra bag and have taught my fishing partner (son) when you leave a site it should be cleaner then when you got there. It doesn't matter where you are or what your doing!!
-
I all in!
-
Protect our investment, I'm always in:)
-
I haven't been able to make it out yet due to work. Next weekend I will be out. I'm taking the pledge for 2014 season right now and I will bring a garbage bag just in case I have to pick up after others. Good luck to you all, be safe and keep up the posts, It's all I have right now and I enjoy seeing/reading what's landing on the ice.
-
AGREED i all in on that.

-
IM in,Just like the song from Alabama(leave it and pass it on down)Its only ares to borrow leave some for tomorrow leave it and pass it on down
-
I'm in some people can really be slobs
-
SBH was pretty bad yesterday. Picked up 4 d cell batteries and handful of beer bottles. Glass on ice? **censored**. Always cans and the empties double as an ashtray. Not that hard.
-
I did take it when I started cub scouts and have "NEVER" forgot to stop picking it all up. When I put my gear in my hut a new bag goes in it
-
I promise. Always carry a trash bag, even in soft water fishing and clean up the launches. Too bad others don't clean their own.
-
I hate seeing trash on the ground! I pledge to take a bag with me and clean up after others!!
-
Always do
-
Cleaned up another nice mess today. Didn't need to bring a bag as I used the one I found. I really don't understand why its so difficult for people to take their garbage with them! :%$#!:
-
Thanks for bumping this back up guys, and thanks for taking the pledge
RG
-
After fishing on Tuesday this needs to be back on TOP. Ran across some real P I G S and all there stuff on the ice. The rest is not fitting for this site.
-
I pledge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I pledge. Always have done this, always will.
-
The worst thing to see is right after the ice leaves a bay or lake and when you're in the boat you see all the garbage that was on the ice sitting on bottom. I always have picked up after myself and any other garbage I see on the ice!
-
Always
-
On my way out of yesterday I was picking up trash. Found 20 bucks. Karma guys. Keep it up!
-
Time to raise your hands boys and girls! ;D
I promise to take a garbage bag on the ice with me and pick up any trash I see!

I'm with RG, I always keep my area clean and have oicked up after others. If everyone would just take care of their own stuff we w00122ouldn't have to do this every year. ???
-
i promise!!

This is a problem every where and sad to say most of the problems are from people not on this forum but each one of us can make a difference.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see
I always did and I always will.
-
As I always have, I pledge to continue taking a garbage bag out with me to clean up after myself, and others. This includes CIGARETTE BUTTS!
Thanks RG for starting the thread.

Thanks everyone for raising your right hand....or left.....I don't really care which as long as you raise one of them ;D

I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
D-bags need to pick up after themselves. I can't even comprehend the thought process behind leaving garbage on the ice. I won't bring a garbage bag, but I do and will pick up any crap I see.
-
If you carry a couple trash bags I think you'd be surprised at the number of things they come in handy for, besides picking up trash
-
I promise...so sad that that element still thrives in this day and age. Same scumbags that litter our roads with fast food packaging!
-
I promise nd Thank You Rg
-
I promise every piece of trash will be disposed of properly
-
New to ice shanty but been ice fishing for 25 years always pick up after myself and others leave on trace
-
If i bring it on ill be sure to take it off as well
-
I've been a member here long enough to remember when RG started this thread sad that there is still a need to clean up after others. I pledge to carry a garbage bag/bags with me and pick up after other careless people.
Not to high jack this thread ,but welcome Wantebe please be so kind as to update your profile with your general location. This helps other members when answering your questions.
Steve
-
again, I also pledge to pick up after myself and others. great thread !!
-
I've been seeing a lot of threads on a lot of different boards talking about trash on the ice and access points. Time to dust this thread off and challenge everyone to take the pledge!
-
Ok, I'll take the pledge, I'm in
-
Always have, always will. I keep a little 1 gallon pail in the sled (boat on softwater) to put butts and small stuff in
-
I'm very happy to report that I left Honeoye today with nothing more than I brought myself. Not one gum wrapper to be found
Rg
-
I promise to do my part also....that means cleaning up after myself, maybe picking up after someone else. But it also means if you see someone trashing our natural resources...telling the jerks to pick up after they mess things up or report them to the proper authorities :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:
-
I also promise to leave with what i bring and pick up what's been left there also.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.

I took the pledge a few yrs back....always take out what u bring in plus all the other goodies ppl leave out there..my best find was 60 cents...worth a beer cans ;D
-
I m in I pledge
-
you should always leave smiles laughter and some humility on the ice ...any trash toss in a garbage can after ;D
-
I promise to pick up any of my garbage or any left by others!
-
I promise I will CONTINUE to take my garbage and anyone else's that I see left out there home with me.
-
I've taken the pledge. Always, always, always. Not even a dead minnow left behind.
-
Count me in, the sled has always got more stuff in it coming off than going on, even if it's not fish.
-
"Leave no trace" isn't good enough. "Leave it better than you found it" is the way to go. I remember the Indian crying. I'd rather see him smile.
-
i take the pledge and i include my wife and 2 young kids and dog!
-
People who leave there garbage behind should be ashamed of themselves. If you bring it out, take it out with you. I can understand s**t happens but take the few minutes and clean up after yourself. I always have a garbage bag handy to pick up trash. I even do it durring deer season. Amazing how much trash is left in the woods. I promise to always do my part.
-
Indian crying commercial from the 70's.
-
I'm in found some styrofoam bowls on the way out the other day and packed them on my sled cam in handy when one of group had some chili warming up LOL
-
Carry in carry out
-
I'm in on this.
-
I take the pledge. Even though I have been picking up other fishermens trash for years.
-
I actually did that once Surf.
RG
Cudos to you reg for that....did the same thing once only just called sherrif dept. Since didn't know them....... sherrifs made them pick up.
Also "I pledge"
-
I always do Brother!

Always keeping a bag with you is a good idea. Can come in handy a variety of ways.
Nothing wrong with creating some good karma.

I'm in to it really make he mad when people are slubs
-
Never understood why people can't bring back what they take out with them. I always am cleaning up garbage out on the ice. The other day it was an entire case of beer cans. Toss them back in your sled before you go, not difficult. Thank you for this thread! Great to see all the supporters.
-
Agree -- I am with you...!!
-
I use to take a bag with me on the ice , Now she
Spends most of the time on the couch watching TV
Don't ya know !

I pledge. Never leave a fishing spot summer, fall, winter or spring without a piece of garbage in my pocket. Days I don't see any make me feel better

I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see! Do the same fishing and hunting. Always have always will.

I just went back to page 1 of this thread and found my pledge on page 2 . I update my promise from late October of 2010 to bring bags with me and cleanup after myself and others.
Steve

More than happy to repledge.

promised!!! and grankids promise too!!!!!!!!

In.
-
It's a darned shame that so many of us have to police the very areas that the slobs claim to love and enjoy. I too will be carrying home the trash left by others with no morels, ( or is that no marbles?). I just hope I have enough trash bags.
-
My promise. :)
-
I agree lets keep it clean!
-
It's not hard to do !!! What ever you carry in you carry out !!!!!

Absolutely take the pledge !!
-
Need to bring this back already this year
Last year I asked you to "Take The High Road".
Repeat after me;
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
I promise!
RG
-
I PLEDGE,,,, always tell grandkids when we leave , no one should be able to tell we were there,,,,, MERRY XMAS TO ALL
-
Should be mandatory for all sportsman(women). Always have bag with. Merry Christmas to all. Hope santa brought you ice. All i got was a lump of coal.
-
I'm going to add to this with please don't clean your fish on the ice either. Someone kept doing it on owasco last year and leaving all of the scraps piled up for birds to drag all over. Disgusting. Nothing like jigging and drilling holes in the middle of a bunch of frozen guts and carcasses. Wish I woulda caught someone whoever was doing it. Really tickeds me off. Scum.
-
I know I took pledge years back and prob many of us have as well....but I think we all first of all not leave any mess but teach our kids and other youngsters to be good sportsmen...and as good sportsmen/women we do the most in cleanup and cosevation.
-
Roger, will comply
-
Always do.
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see.
-
Been out a few times this year close to home, and I'm happy to report I've seen zero trash on the ice or in the parking lots! ;D
-
I promise to take a garbage bag with me on the ice and to pick up any trash I see!!!!!!!!
-
For sure in!!!!
-
Count me in
-
I said this before ...be very careful when you pick up trash that others left of needles! I actually picked up trash in fulton along the river and there were needles .....
-
I PROMISE to take out what I take in and to pick up what others may leave behind
-
This old hippie has been picking up other people's garbage for a long time..

All ready doing my part...

My son ruined a nice pair of leather gloves because someone had drilled a hole a foot into the ice and threw beer bottles in it to break them. $20 pair of gloves shredded. We got a garbage bag full of other trash in the same area also. Almost makes ya sick
-
Last year guys left a pile of trash anda decent seats for a 5 gallon bucket I picked up all their trash and took the bucket list when we left we saw them headed back in right back to the spot we picked up their garbage at sorry your lid seat is gonna I pick up your trash I keep anything good you also left behind
-
I'll take the pledge and have done my share of picking up after the certain ppl that leave their trash.

I’m in

I’m in. Been doing it for years. Not only fishing but hunting as well. I’m always amazed at how many beer cans, water bottles and other trash I pick up hunting and fishing. It’s hard to understand how people who say they love the outdoors can leave any trash behind. The few people I hunt and fish with pick up as well. All us bird hunters should be picking up spent she’ll casings as well.
I applaud all of you for your efforts!!!
-
Right on. Clean up after yourself and I am all for picking up trash when you happen upon it.
-
I'm in been doing it for years.
-
Same here, I've been picking up after slobs for years.
I take the pledge to confront them in person if I see it happening.
I remember as a kid if my dad saw someone littering out there car window at a stop sign or intersection he would get out pick up the litter and either knock on their window or follow them home and give them their garbage back, politely telling them they lost something out there car window! It did get heated at times but my dad was a no BS kind of guy.
This is the only way to fix the problem, humiliate them. Even then 9 out of 10 still wouldn't get the point.

I'm in. Always carry a trash bag to pick up garbage left on the ice.
-
Picked up another one of those f$%n balloons the other day. They should have a $5 deposit on them!
-
ME TOO !but it not just for fishing areas
this past fall on state land I cleaned up
6 bags of garbage where I hunt
twisted tea, beer cans and a cooking kettle
stone fire pit on ground
I can only guess at what they we cooking ,
drug-ies live in the area
-
As always- I'm in!!
-
Thanks to everyone who pitches in.
I started this thread as a reminder and found I really didn’t have to remind good people to do the right thing. I’m in good company.

Been "IN" forever. "IN" every day I hit the ice or the lake or the woods. Unfortunately rare is the day I don't come back with something that isn't mine. Still it's the way I roll!
-
Sure wish there was more of us out there. Seems like there’s more and more trash showing up. I just don’t understand how people who are supposed to love the outdoors litter so damn much. Thanks to all who pick up.
-
I truly believe it’s only a couple out of every 100. That’s all it really takes to F*** everything up
-
I’m in Colorado! Is it ok if I take the pledge too?
Seriously, I’m an “Old Guy”, but have been doing this all my outside life! The more people who use the resources, the worst it gets! I don’t understand why people have to trash the lands they’re supposed to love?
I still remember the PSA with the Native American who sheds a tear when he sees the land trashed out...powerful!
-
Colorado. The land of milk and honey lol!! Or so my buddy use to say. 100% right. No room for ignorance now a days. Way to many people out there for for that kinda BS
-
Been in all my life. Ice, woods, boat launch, city streets as a paperboy.
I thank my parents every time I speak with them for raising me the way they did
-
Im in.
-
I remember that PSA too. Thanks for the reminder
-
I take the pledge and I'll take the high road when doing it!
-
Took the pledge a long time ago. It costs nothing to do the right thing. Thanks to all who do this. I'm in good company.

Let's bring back and old favorite! If you bring it out, bring it back. Who else cleans up other peoples crap from the ice?
-
i use to now with covid i'm not touching someone elses beer cans and sandwich wrappers i don't advice you to either
-
Are you two the same person. Three threads in a row with you two complaining about random topics 😂.
-
complaining or talking all in what side your on ...if you don't leave trash on the ice your dog doesn't pee on my shanty and you don't drill a hole within spitting distance of me we'll get along fine....all things that are intolerable , don't you think????
-
Everyone knows people that leave trash on the ice are trash talking about it does not make it anymore true. If I am on the ice and someone's dog comes over to me I will probably pet it give it some of my sandwich if I'm eating one and send it on its way. And if I am jigging perch and someone comes over and sits down next to me I will probably strike up a conversation and welcome them. Generally the more people jigging in an area the easier it is to keep the school in the area and worked up. Or I could choose to whine about all of these subjects but I'm not really into being a whiner lol.
-
bigfish that is great ...that is you . i don't like trash i just wont touch it until covid is gone ...i sure us to pick it up ....i don't like animals unless they are in a crook pot that is me and i don't like rude people again that is me

Me and Trapper? Just a couple of old jerks complaining about everything and glued to our computers all day because we’re losers.

Idk if I would say losers maybe just old ornery geezers. But I agree with the stud your talking about. Hate the garbage on ice or shore for that mater.
And trap just so you know bacteria struggles to survive in the frigid temps we have. Safer to touch the garbage out here then a McDonald’s door.
-
well said Bigfish. You're my kind of guy. Ditto on everything. We all call ourselves sportsman and part of an ice fishing community but when most are afraid to let his fellow sportsmen know that there is fishable ice somewhere when everyone is chomping at the bit to get out. So afraid someone may catch some of their precious fish. And the other ones that when you walk over to see how they're doing, knowing they are catching a bunch, drop the jig back down in the hole so you can't see what they are using. Again, afraid you'll catch one of their precious fish. At age 76 I can't count how many times I've given away jigs that were hot that day so the guy next to me could have a chance to take some fish home and enjoy the day as I was. Some of us are sportsman and some of us are just plain greedy, rude, and whatever Sportsman my arce.
-
will you send me some jigs ????
-
just finally after being on line for hours had a bunch of Fishbite dinner bells delivered to the house for me and my fishing partner. Plan on trying them out tomorrow. How many do you need? LOL
-
thank you for the offer but i think i'm good lol good luck to you and your partner .... be careful out there
-
Thanks Trapper. you sound like not only a sportsman and a gentleman but even have a sense of humor. Hard to find all three in one person. These two old Marines will be okay. Same kind of day of fishing for us. Walk 10 yards and go back and pick my partner up off the ice.
-
oh boy ,i imagine you two old devil dogs have got a story or two .....get out there and have some fun ;D.....and thank you ,i like being free because of men like you
-
I’m still cleaning up garbage…
No matter where it is..
-
Always have, always will. Fishing, hunting, camping and hiking. we leave things better than when we got there. or at least try
-
I do that too Frogger . . Lots of lures gotten out of trees ;D
-
I just find it a real shame that we have to be chatting about this subject already, but then I guess the slobs really have no off season. It's an all year affair. I've already seen their tracks and wanted to pick things up but it really creeped me out and I had to leave it there. Sorry everybody but I can't pick up somebody elses covid. Just the way it is.
-
I pledge to take a bag or fill my hut with other people's crap.
I will say that U have run down the ice to pick up something that blew out of my hut.
-
Excellent - the sad part is how excited when I find a $5 lure - hahaha. Get the right tree and it looks like an x-mas tree with no needles and a bunch of ornaments. LOL
Those are most likely Lures and bobbers from Trap and I in those trees!!!😂 sometimes we don’t even fish, we call out branches that we aim for to hang rigs on! The ol buzzard is tough to beat!! Good times!!!😂

-
hahahaha - Some of the ones I find miss the water by a LOT - like 2 stories up LOT. Have to be a heck of a wind behind the person to get it that high
Frogger, you see, those rigs up high, are up there , because that would’ve been the end of duck season… trapper was sky busting ducks with his fishing rod!!!!😁 I won’t comment whether he hit ducks or not!! It was the end of the season!!!😂😂😂😂😜 lol!!
