Fished Verona yesterday on about 8 inches. Pretty slow - caught one small crappie. Lots of marks but probably fish too small to eat my lures as I was hoping for walleye/pike.

Good day all,

Was on Verona Lake yesterday. 8 inches of ice. Hooked a few fish including one of the biggest smallmouth bass I have ever caught (sent him right back down the hole)!.

Will be back out on Verona Lake today. Taking the side by side as Lake thickness seemed pretty good.

It was slow for me this weekend on Verona

Caught a black crappie in 36ft of waster, so that was interesting

Good day all,

Well my son and I had a great day on Verona Lake. We landing just over 40 perch in varying sizes. We also had a pike on the Liveacope + and camera that was about 30" in length stalking our baits for for about an hour. There was a good 8 - 9 inches of ice so we took the side by side out. The perch were truly in a feeding frenzy today!

I've been to Verona a few times this year and always had goodluck with perch and the odd pike flying in. Only ever got 1 crappie but seem to not venture far from a couple spots that always produce.
Good to see lots of ice in alot of the back lakes, took long enough

I've never made it to Verona. Not sure why. I think someone mentioned to me before, you can park at a grocery store and there is a bait store right near by?

I would love to get out on the deep end of Loughborough to look for some lakers. Anyone know if it’s consistently frozen yet, and any good access points? It’s a long haul from the Perth Road launch.

Good day all,

Heading to BofQ today to check out ice thickness near Big Island then back up to Verona Lake for some fishing this afternoon and tomorrow. Next weekend should have safe ice on 2nd Depot and go and try for some walleye and burbot.

This coming week the freezer up should be good as we move into February.

Where’s everyone fishing this coming Sunday? I’m thinking either 2nd Depot for Walleye or Loughborough for Lakers. 10” of ice on Loughborough, I’m told, some wet cracks on the shoreline.

Going to check 2nd Depot Lake out this weekend. As long as they have not been letting too much water out of the lake it should be relatively safe to fish this weekend. Will be a good time for walleye and burbot. Also, Verona Lake continues to be producing well provided you can locate the drop offs. Using the Garmin Livescope+ has made "hunting' for hotspots a lot easier.

Last weekend fishing in the snowfall was a little slower, my son and I did find a ton of perch and landed a pike.

Anyway, be safe wherever you go and tight lines to all.

Keep me posted on 2nd depot I’ve never fished it and want to get out this year

I understand that the ice can be a couple feet above the water depending on what the damm is doing

Anyway to check or just go out and hope for the best?

Do you park at the launch or in the conservation area? Is the parking free for the winter? Appreciate the info

We will definitely be checking out 2nd Depot Lake tomorrow afternoon, at least to ensure there is safe ice. We park in and around the regular parking area and we do pay the $5 fee (even though I find it ridiculous in the winter time). We started charting the lake last year and have completed almost half of the lake so far. So this year will be a good opportunity to fish some of the drop offs and channel that we have found. The walleye, pike and burbot in the winter are relatively good fishing in this lake. The key to fishing this year at 2nd Depot will be making sure that the there is no significant gap between the ice sheet and the water. Anyway, we will post whatever we find tomorow.

Well finally got out to Collin's, there is approx 14+ inches of mostly snow ice and the walk was tough due to the snow and slush underneath which will freeze with the -20+ temps and melt with the rain next week ?? Did well if bass was open and we got a few ok pike but sent them back to grow. Hope to get out on Dog next week as the word is "good ice" in areas I go (Sunbury). Will report.

Good day all,

Went out to 2nd Depot Lake today. Drilled several holes. There is 4 inches of black ice and 4 to 5 inches of snow/white ice. Relative easy walk out but would not take any vehicles out as there still is a fair amount of water being released from the dam and ice consistency varied between the holes we drilled.

Went out on Verona Lake and we were surprised to see 4 full sized truck on the ice. The ice is the same about 4 to 5 inches good black ice and 4 to 5 inches white ice. ATV or side by side would be safe but the full size trucks were take big risks on the ice.

Probably will take the side by side out on Verona tomorrow provided the weather is fine.

Got out today in the sunshine on Dog by the three cats with several hits on the tipups but no keepers.Several people/ huts out including one suv/car looking to go swimming as there was only 6-8" of snow ice with some black ice holding it up. Will try again on family day with the family, good luck to all and stay safe.

There are multiple ramps but just look for the huts is a start or with this weather open holes. Looks like Monday's a wash, may try tomorrow.

Good day to all,

hopefully this weather is going to allow for some last few days of decent ice fishing on the back lakes in the Kingston area. Will be heading out this weekend to check some lakes and hopefully get some fishing in.

Over the course of the last week spent the down time building some 12V 10A power boxes. Turned out to be a lot easier and cheaper to build than buying a pre-made one. Quite happy with the end result.

Had a good day yesterday on Verona Lake. My son and I caught approximately 40 perch - released them all. Watched 2 pike hunt as a pack on our electronics. Heading back out to Verona today, about 11" of ice. Safe enough for ATV or SxS but I would not suggest anything bigger.

I came here this evening in hope of some advice...

This is my 3rd winter fishing loughborough but I have yet to catch anything!

I have tried everything, dead bait, smelt, white tube jigs, jigging raps, spoons.

Fishing at every depth of the water colum. Early morning. Sunset. Snow storm. You get the just!

I have no problem finding fish on the screen and can often get them to chase. Sometimes winding real fast, other times not at all. Sometimes let the lure fall. Bumping bottom etc.

But I've never had so much as even a bump or a knock from a fish

This past weekend, I tried some small 1" crappie lures and focused on the bottom.
Plenty fish there but nothing doing.

I also see people with fish on most occasions which is great.

I am not looking for personal secrets. I just feel I must be missing something!?

Any info / experiences appreciated!

Loughborough lakers can be quite finicky this time of year. While we have drawn many up from the bottom with white tube jigs they truly have to be hungry to go after them. They are well fed in that lake so that can be quite choosy. Early morning and late afternoon have been the best times in the past. If you can fish around the 40-50 ft range you might have some better luck
