fishing licence

hey my firend bot his fishing licence in July 2012 and it says it expires Dec,31,2012 now my question is would it expire on the day he bot it or what never ran in to this as i buy my licence on Jan1

Its only good till the end of the calender year regardless of when you buy it throughout the year.
