I have the Hook5, and am impressed by the versatility of the unit and its real-time capabilities. I especially like the graphing and GPS function which I find very useful. I can’t speak on the Garmin unit, but I imagine it has its good points as well. I would say you can’t go wrong with either one. Ski

I would say Garmin ..but make sure you can update maps..not certain the Striker units can ..Garmin bought out Navionics so updates will be available as soon as the kinks are wirked out.

Both my Garmin Livescope and my Humminbird Solix can actually create maps that can be used in their own brand locators.

I used the summer to scout my favorite ice locations and get every rock and hump into my own private maps.

I can now use them this winter on ice.

Killer feature.

I do the same with my Helix 7, I mark waypoints then use the GPS to find them while walking on the water :)
