crappie moving from lake to river in winter?
« on: Feb 22, 2011, 01:00 PM »
so i fish a lake in northern NY that has pike, bluegill, perch, bass, and crappie. according to the DEC and other fishermen, for some reason the crappie all move into the outlet stream and leave the lake during the winter... anyone ever heard of crappie doing this? it then says they come back in the spring. however, even though this is supposed to hapen we have caught 2 big crappie iin 2 outings while fishing for pike  ???

we got this one on a 6" pike minnow and a 1/0 treble  ???

and this one jigging the next time we went out

now we caught them on 2 different sides of the lake so there must be more in there, but, why do you think most of the fish decide to leave the lake but some stay??
