Crappie jig favorites
« on: Jan 07, 2010, 08:13 AM »
Wondering how many guys make their own jigs for the crappies.  Here are mine, caught over 17" slabs on these.  If not make own jigs, what are your favorites.

Sorry it took so long to post the pic.  Having trouble with my account this morning.  Here are my jigs, they work great and I make them in 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 oz sizes.  Use the powder paint at Gander Mtn.  To get the 2 tone colors, I have a set of the Orvis prismacolor markers, they are perfect for this.  Then I put a 2 step clear coat on them, and put them on a jig turner for 2 hours and they're ready to go next day.  I've made over 25 color combos.  The red/white, and chart/green are my favorites.  Then I add a little flashabou on the tail, if it turns fish off, I can clip it off on the ice.

nice looking jigs! Where did you get the mold for them?

If I'm not fishing or hunting right now, you can bet that I\'m thinking about it!

It is just a tube jig jighead mold.  You can get them from jansnetcraft.com, they have a ton of luremaking supplies.  That's where I get most of mine.
