Big Payette
« on: Jan 03, 2012, 07:21 AM »
There was a couple people out there yesterday. With the lack of snow this year might get some good ice out there. Anyone know were I could get an underwater map of that lake.

Truck is under the weather...haven't made it north in awhile so I don't know the ice condition, but that navionics app is sweet. Tells you where on the lake you are as well

I'm gonna try to get there today and check the ice out. The were fishing right in town, below the bear statues. Probably perch or bows.

If those maps synced with a Garmin like HuntingGPSMaps...that would be sweet.  I don't have the Navionics, but I scanned the Cascade Lake map and overlaid it in Google Earth as a .tif and gets me pretty close.  I have to chuckle with the precision that some are trying to achieve with the topo of the lake.  I hate to think back in the day...we didn't have all these fancy gadgets...just fished and had fun, didn't run all over the lake like mad men...but the fishing was better back then too.

2 fat 17" rainbows, had a fair amount of bites, they would tap it once and that was it. No Mack's. Brroke a pole and broke a reel trying for Mack's thought after that I would get a dandy. Still around 4" or so of ice. Open water at North Beach and Ponderosa park.
