That's not anywhere close to PSC that I recognize, so I'd suspect he was home for the weekend.

All I'm going to say for now, because fishing space was limited, it that it was somewhere on the Saranac Lake Chain...

That was a great day of fishing Zach....I hope to have many more like it this year.  I'm actually glad it was your turn on the tipups.  Great job fighing it too.  Not many people can land a big pike like that only the second time fighing a fish on a tip up.  I'll have my pictures of the day before up soon.

Well Mac, you're right about the lack of water in my area.  After college, I want to get a job doing something in the fisheries field.  Paul Smith's College has an amazing 99% job placement rate, so getting a job after graduation shouldn't be a problem.  Personally, I don't really want to live in the area I live now after college, because of the lack of opportunities in the fisheries field.  I'm hoping to live either up here in the Adirondacks, somewhere in the Champlain or St. Lawrence valleys, or out of state, in some place like Wisconsin, Minnesota or Michigan.  I have 3.5 years until graduation, so I'm hoping that I'm pointed in the right direction by then.  :)

Zach, check out the adirondack lakes survey corp...they've hired a number of my friends from SUNY Cobleskill to do some seasonal fisheries work...interesting work, decent pay, looks good on a resume.

I figured out after 4 years at school that fisheries work just isn't for me.

Don't hesitate to give Wisconsin a shot! Great place to live and all the lakes you can handle. Great pike Zach, what was your PB before that one?

Prior to this fish, I had caught 3 pike that were exactly 30"...at home, there aren't many places to fish for pike, only a couple rivers and a lake, which is private.  Two of those had come from the St. Lawrence River, and one from Lower St. Regis Lake (the lake my school is on).

Nice pike you got there.

I was trying to look up information on this Paul Smith College place, at first I thought it was a novelty college more of a resort type college, but I see they have the basic accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education, but I was wondering if they have any other accreditations, any professional organizations by chance?  It does look like a peaceful quiet atmosphere to take in nature and the wildnerness.

c66,
It might help if you give us an idea of what you're looking for.... perhaps an intended major?  ;)

Probably most of you have seen these already in Hood's post, but I'm going to post them anyway!  ;D

I finally got the chance to fish with Hood yesterday, and we decided to fish for some trout.  We met Matt (pikie) at around 6 AM, and headed out onto the ice.  There was about 9 inches of snow, with a bunch of slush underneath it, which made for a less than wonderful drag out to the fishing spot.  It took both Matt and I to pull his Jet-Sled, which was really heavy.  Finally, we got out there and set up our spread.

It didn't take long before I got this little brown on a tipup.

Matt got a flag and we all started taking off towards it, but all of a sudden Harry's tipup went off. The result was this nice pair of big, hookjaw male browns.

Matt got this nice rainbow, which was a surprise!

Harry and I each got another brown, and Harry got a nice perch on a tipup.

Matt lost a fish on the jig rod that was really taking some drag.  I missed a fish that was running like hell when I got to the tipup (I think when I set the hook, the fish only had the minnow it's mouth, and not the hook...  ::) oh well!  ).  As we were cleaning up, there was only one tipup left to be picked up, when the flag went off!  The spool was turning a little bit and stopped, and all of a sudden the whole tipup shook.  It was Matt's turn, so he ripped it out of the hole and set the hook.  The fish was on for a second, but he broke the leader when the spool didn't want to turn as the fish ran.  :'(

All in all, it was a great day of fishing.  It was great to get out with Matt once again, and great to finally fish with Hood.  I'm sure the three of us will have many more trips onto the ice together!  ;D

Okay, well I got back from school on Tuesday evening...which of course meant that I was going to be on the ice on Wednesday morning!  But, as luck would have it, it wasn't as easy as just going fishing.  I decided to hit up "the bluegill pond" for some early ice bluegill action.  Tim and George, you guys know where I'm talking about!  ;)  Well, I had to take my brothers car up.  When I got there, I realized that I had forgotten my Vex!  >:( :%$#!: ....so then, I decided to go and get it, and the car didn't start (turned out to be a bad alternator)... So, I said screw it and fished blind, which still resulted in about 30 gills, up to 10".  My camera batteries only had enough juice to take this short video.

http://media.putfile.com/Picture-01359

Yesterday, I went out to a local reservoir and caught 40-45 perch and 2 bass.  BUt no camera = no pictures!  :'(
