Deep Creek Lodging question
« on: Nov 29, 2004, 11:50 AM »
Would someone be kind and post some lodging facilities within a short distance of the lake? Just looking for someplace clean and not spending a fortune. Thanks for your help.

go to www.deepcreektimes.com ,and click on Lodging. My best advice to you if you want to save a few dollars, is that the further from the lake, the cheaper the rates! Look into some of the motels in Oakland, or even Grantsville. Grantsville is a bout 20 mins from the lake area. In winter, hotels can fill fast, mainly the ones close to WISP ski resort, due to Ski season. Also be forewarned if you never been here before, A 4 wheel drive vehicle is higly recommended! Winter snows can be mean, usally snowfall comes with highwinds, and is very common. Most people who visit the area say its a different world!

Bean,
We just returned from our first trip to Deep Creek and stayed right on the lake at the Alpine Inn.  It was $90 per night for two of us.  Probably not the cheapest but it was close to the lake and to a mini-mart.  The rooms were Motel-6 quality but the people were very nice.  They had a very nice looking sitting area in the check-in area but I had fishing to do so we didn't spend time there.

Just as a thought, the town of Oakland is only 10 minutes from the lake and I would imagine there would be some cheaper places there.

Recommend the Garrett Inn right off 219 just about 2 miles south of lake (past Uno and HoniHoni) on left going south on 219.  Family owned and operated, no frills but very clean and warm and the price is right!  Garrett Inn, 17848 Garrett Hwy Oakland, MD 21550-7100 Phone:  (301) 387-6696

Hi Bean! Down in Oakland there is an inexpensive place called the Town Motel, Tele. #1-301-334-3955. I've stayed there many times before while ice fishing! Congratulations on placing in the tournament 3/6/05 at Deep Creek! Got the word from Geoff! Maybe going out to Deep Creek this weekend! Good fishing!---IceTales(Glenn from Germantown)
