Ice pics 06/07
« on: Nov 09, 2006, 08:00 PM »
Well look who I found trying his luck.

I missed all the action earlier but I did land 2 ten inch brookies and lost one double that size at the hole :-\

PGKris has better pics and will post tomorrow. 4.5 inches of ice. We could have been on a week ago as another fellow was out there then. We played it safe. Nice to hear the drill going thru the ice. Also nice sunny day on the lake today.

First fish up the hole of the 06/07 ice fishing season!
 :o :o

Not a bad way to kick off the year eh? Didn't tape him but the rod is 28" long. I figure he's about 20" give or take a bit. Around 3 lbs. One of my biggest ever.

Next:

16" brookie. That was about average

Self-timer on the camera works! Fishin in a whiteout like Kyle :o

Some yotie tracks ;D

Waiting for the bite in style:

Darn good day! Nice to see TGF in action. I had to leave for class shortly after he arrived so I missed his action. Good times!
Tight Lines (Oh how they were today!!)

Fireball heh....guess thats why you were not fishing much when I got there :roflmao: :roflmao:

Had to get up to the University by 4? Right ;D. I think thats when the local pub opens :roflmao: :roflmao:

Just giving you a hard time lad. I however didn't see any fireball when I arrived, so I'm wondering why you were cold?

I have some pics of the cabin beside highway from a few years back when it stood taller and the roof was intact. Your pics definately look better on the computer than looking thru the camera display. Good work.
Nice to feel some hard ice under the feet

Ice is forming nicely on blackwater lakes. I didn't test.
Now comes some ice time.

Me thinks the areas may look like this this year.

Those fish are beauties, PGKris, it's good to see fish on the ice across most of western Canada, and you guys are in the heart of some prime areas for trout!  Congrats to both you and Terry's son on your (and his first) deer.  Mmmmmm...venison jerky......

TGF:  :o wow that is some snow, how much was that, all I know is that is one heck of a workout.  :flex: Us short legged guys would have to go 2nd.  ;D

PGKris: Those are awesome, I've only gotten 1 trout, an 18 1/2" rainbow on a tipup over 3-4 years ago.  :'( I've always wanted to get another, but haven't, those are sweet, on a jigpole must be fun. Some fine looking brookies.

That was about 2 and a half foot dump then. That was last year. I'm thinking this year will be similar to that.
I know lakes north of here have nearly twice that amount now. Hope it will compact some.
Yes I usually have to break trail for the shorter guys ;D

Fish-slayer and I hit a local lake. Ice was thin and couldn't get to where we wanted to go. Did catch a few though. Snowing lots out there. Pics:

Well TGF and fish-slayer hit the ice again today. I dropped in about noonish and promptly schooled them in the ways of trout ;D Sorry guys just kiddin ;) ;D Fishing wasn't too great today overall. I'll let you boys report when ya get back, if ya get back :o . Ice was pretty sketchy in spots and whenever TGF and his bigger-than-me frame came too close the ice started to crack :o :o I don't like that sound. Made it home alive though, which is always a bonus. Pics:

My first one for this lake this year

Another decent one

LMAO PGKris. That wasn't the ice cracking...larger framed guys tend to pass gas more :woot: Thats all it was ;D
We did have to move around to find the fish today. We did land some and lost fewer. Fishing got a little better when you left PGKris. Kept some and released some.

We arrived and Fish-slayer starts checking the ice

We did catch a little one and lost one then PGKris showed up

Fish-slayer gets into the action

Biggest of the day (21 1/4 inch)

PGKris heads in as had prior commitment

Love those rainbow colors ;D

Great day to be on the ice. Got quite warm. Hope for colder weather but doesn't look good.

For the record, that second pic is me wondering where the hell all the fish went after TGF came back to my spot :roflmao: The anti-fish if there ever was one!
