Ice forming in Lakes Region
« on: Dec 31, 2014, 07:25 PM »
Wicwas,Winona, Waukewan and Little Squam all caught up in ice today. Water temp in Waukewan was 35 degrees every day this week.I think it will stick this time.
There must be a twelve step program for this

The snow on Saturday will not be good for ice development :-\ I have heard 5-8 inches...

  Little snow will be good because it might retain the rain coming on Sunday ;D  Temps next week look great!

True, the rain will make the snow very slushy and when it freezes it will become ice ;) Although the ice won't be strong it will be ice none the less.

Good thing is what ever happens this weekend will be locked up solid by midweek. Serious cold coming next week.

;D   Let's hope I'm right.  Freezing rain on Sunday at 40 degrees won't do anything but provide a lot of OK  white ice  by Monday morning.   By the end of the week everything but the big lakes should be walkable
That's great because I plan to head south to take home some of your crappie and blue gill for the freezer ;D

I've been on my favorite crappie and white perch lakes the last couple days and have had an average of 6.5".
