I have a 8" lazer attached to a 996 DeWalt with 6amp hour battery. I have now issues with walking and cuts ice like butter
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

My 8 inch Vevor showed up today! First impressions are good, screws were tight and fit and finish is solid.  The blade cover is heavy duty and covers entire business end . The blades look identical to the ones in my ion so if so thats a plus.  No ice obviously to test on but from what I've seen and  compared to what I've used it looks well made.

Is the blade mount a metal ring or composite like the eskimo

Metal

Nooks like they raised the price.....I think I'm going to hold out for a Pistol bit where the cutting head mount is composite..

No….I want composite so it doesn’t rust, or have paint come off.

I also feel that the composite ring/cutting head wouldn’t have issues with getting bent like a metal one which can really screw up the cutting head.

Also, on cold days…I feel the metal cutting head might build up ice on it where the composite wouldn’t be as bad.

Agreed ..but none of the above has happened on mine or my buddies HT E-Drill ..just a quick spin when out of hole gets most of any water off. I sent you a PM  Agronomist_at_IA

I’m looking to get some additional replacement blades - do you know which brands blades will fit?  (I’d compare at stores but not too many near me)

Most of the Mora/flat bladed augers have the same bolt pattern ..SM Mora blades will fit onto the HT E-Drill for example ..the Vevor drill bit looks very similar to the HT E-Drill.. so StrikeMaster Mora should fit as well ..and StrikeMasters are stainless steel ..but there are less expensive options available Eskimo tend to be less expensive.

You may also want to PM some members who recently purchased ..Thorney I believe got the 6 in version and believe he has 6" Mora blades he may be willing to see for fit ...Reinert also made a 8 inch purchase recently I believe he may be able to verify a blade fit

So to clarify..your Vevor 8" blades will swap/fit on your 8" ION blades ?

The "best auger" is different for different people. I landed on the 8" SM Lite Flite. I love it. Super light, blazing fast, can open old holes, cut side by side holes, and gets more holes per batter compared to the K Drill. I have several videos on my YouTube channel showing how good it cuts. But to answer the question, the auger that gets you a hole to fish out of is the best one!!
