Advice on a new rod.
« on: Oct 31, 2015, 10:58 PM »
Hi everyone.  I am looking for recommendations on a new 36 or 38 inch rod for walleye and perch. I've looked at a few but haven't been able to find a name brand one I like and am starting to consider going with a tuned up custom or thorne Brother rod.  Any recommendations for a good custom or name brand rod would be appreciated   Thanks

Thanks for the advice. Any recommendation on models? Also how long do the rods generally take to arrive?

If you are talking about Thorne Bros rods just go to their website and take a look at what they offer and they can make rods to what suits you the best all personal choice and the type of fishing you are doing.

All good options for sure. Also check out the St.Croix ice rods, I really like mine.

I like my fenwick elite tech rods.  Good price at Cabelas and Wholesale.

I second the Fenwick Elite rods, have never been more pleased with a single piece of fishing equipment than my Fenwick rod.

I picked up 4 of the tuned up customs rods and they look really nice but there's no real ice to try them on yet, liking the idea of titanium guides!

They're quality rods for sure, I had about 20 ice rods and sold/donated my whole collection to buy 4 of these haha. Hope they live up to the hype and hope we get some damn ice!!

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. In the end I went with a 36 inch Tuned up custom Commander. It seems like a good rod just need some ice to try it out.
