Current NY'er, moving to CT
« on: Jan 06, 2011, 12:48 PM »
Whats up guys? I'm from NY, but recently started a job with a company out of Waterbury. Im planning on moving to the Danbury area. I've gotten into pike fishing here in NY the last few years and I know CT has some good pike waters. I know a little about Bantam, but can someone point me in the right direction on where else to find them? Any info would be appreciated.

the CT. Anglers guide book has all of the lakes stocked with pike, some of the bigger rivers have em' too, ct.river, housatonic, also if you look through the threads on here you will find there are some other places that the DEP didnt stock but pike managed their way into, like Park pond and Beseck lake!

yeah, not sure if the new ones are out yet though,, the state also has a book called Lakes and Ponds of ct. put out by the DEP that has some info, its not completely updated but it does have depth charts and info for the majority of the major lakes

if your big into fishing the ct lakes and ponds book available through the dep is a great resource.  i'm pretty sure that our sponsor ct outfitters also carries it......which is a great store and has all you need for the ice.  its got depth maps of most of the fishable waters, descriptions of stocking, fish survey results with sizes, etc.  there are definitely some nice pike in ct.  good luck man, welcome.
if the trout are lost, smash the state.

Welcome!

Here's a link to the Angler's guide for 2011 in .pdf format. No need to drive anywhere. The lakes and ponds section have headers to indicate if they are a fish program lake, and what species.
http://www.ct.gov/dep/lib/dep/fishing/anglers_guide/anguide.pdf

A Fisheries Guide to Lakes and Ponds of CT (published by our DEP) is 25 bucks. But at 350 pages, it covers a lot more than just depths. It contains species info, and other data from DEP surveys. It also includes the CT river and major coves.

Thanks guys! Im in the poughkeepsie area (about 40 mins from danbury). We have no good pike lakes around here. I have to drive atleast 2 hrs north to find good fish.
