That story is a classic ;D

Yes it is!!

A map of access points would be great...

A quick question... do you know if the guy who lets people launch on east for a small fee (I think it's almost 10 bucks now) will allow parking there?  It's a huge lot, on the channel, and it'd be a nice starting spot for those trying on east.

The association beach on the avenues is a good place to get on. Also I'm not sure if I would try to get on by the boat launch where the lakes come together with this warm weather. Also there is access on the snowmobile trail on Garlock rd.

Hey, Caroga, Robb, Ozzy and Slipbob, it's been a while. I see you guys are still diehards. Hope you have a good time this weekend. I wish I could join the hardwater with you, but I am almost done with my apartments.
Looking forward to the Northern Challenge weekend with you guys. It was a good time last year. I should see
you on the ice before that.

Take Care

Hey Jason -

So far, Jim has 36 entries in the contest and he has ICICLES:D
He will be taking entries tomorrow until around 6:00pm until the entries get picked up.  Hopefully, the rain will miss us BUT that didn't stop the contest before!

Better bring planks and hip waders. We're getting a ton of rain up in the caroga area.  :P

The fish have to be weighed in at the club..We couldn't find any voulunteers to do measuring on the Ice this year, so all fish will be measured at the club.. Just keep them some what alive, No frozen fish..

This rain sucks, But atleast it's freezing rain... 8) Hopefully the temps will dip down tonight so the lake isn't that much of a mess in the morning... :-\

Hey Wellsy,

Tourney was excellent! Lots of people (over100), lots of great prizes and fun! Shore conditions were a little tough with the wheelers getting on and off the lake (east caroga) but we managed to stay on top for the most part. Carogakid did another excellent job with the tournament, prizes and organization! Hopefully the Northern Challenge will be as fun.

West caroga was also good but the shorelines were also quite open with fourwheelers helping open it up some more and the channel behind vroomans seemed to get a little wider all the time. But the ice was quite solid with around 6-8 inches prolly. Saw some nice trout caught and heard about some good pickerel, unfortunatly i caught 0 fish luckily i wasn't in the tourney. They had a great turnout.

Wow! What a day.  Lot's of flags, Lot's of pickerel. One big large mouth bass.  All were returned to the lake.  No contest winners.  Closest one was 20 inches. Everyone's legs are sore from shuffling on the ice to run to flags.   BABOB won one of the 50/50's.  I won a nice orange cowboy shirt and pants.  Hubby looks hot in his new shirt.  Thanks to Carogakid!  It was nice to meet the legend on our way off the ice.  Great memories added.  Thanks again for a wonderful day!  Portapotties on the ice for women would be helpful.

Hey Jason!
Just let me add my voice to the others...GREAT TOURNEY!
Caught many firsts for me (relatively new to the sport): first perch (2), first 2 pickeral (unfortunately, the larger one bit me off as I was taking him out of the whole & got away. Boy did I get wet diving to grab him. NO luck!) and my first bullhead through the ice. I didn't know bulls got that BIG! I have caught a LOT of them, as a kid, in open water, usually nothing bigger than 8". This puppy was almost 15". You grow them BIG there!

Once again, REALLY great tourney. Keep up the good work & I'll see ya next year, ice permitting. Now, On to Northern Challange!!!
