I just found out that a new state record fish was caught
it was a 16.9lb walleye out of mystic lake

I hope this doens't turn out to be an internet rumor. I heard it was from Kinzua. I've near heard of Mystic lake, and the last state record cam from Kinzua.

I agree I would love to see a pic!

At 3:30 today I guy I worked with told me he saw the new NY STATE record walleye.

It was officially weighed in at a store in Alleghany ny, and he watched them weigh it with a ny dec officer present, and the officer apparently said yes, it is a new state record.

I also work with the brother in law of the guy who caught it, and I have the picture of it in my e-mail, but I am clueless on how to post it.

I was told the mans name is Brian Mckenyan (sorry about the spelling)and I was told two weights - 16lbs 8oz from the guy who watched them weigh it, and 16 lbs 10 oz.

The state rec is 16lb 9 oz.
It'd have to be bigger to break it, no?

The Reg. book shows the old record as 16 lb. 7 oz. caught 5/22/94 at Kinzua Reservior

It's one thing to catch a walleye this size in open water...but through the ice...well I'm soooo jealous!!!

I received the e-mail that was floating thru the DEC network, It mentioned the fish at 16lb-9oz.-34" in length....Congratulati ons!! I am kind of curious on what pound test line he had and how big was the hole in the ice?

I can also verify this information. Got the same pics and info from DEC Region 9. Fish was caught on Mystic Lake, Cattaraugus County.
