Dropped a mini mag light in when it was turned on in 50' of water spent the next 2 hours trying to get it back with the under water camera and a hook. Its still down there!!!!!!!

Should have made a good spot for awhile. the under water light is great or even light shinning down the hole.

I always carry a medium duty magnet with me, just in case.

 Hemos, Needle Nose Pliers, mouthspreader, lighters, but worst of all ME!!! Thin ice and a few holes in a small arear turned into a huge hole. 18 feet deep! 10 degrees at night.  And I only weigh 150!
  Luckily I came back from the hole, gear never has............

My buddy has lost his cell phone....and then 2 years after that he dropped his full set of keys down the hole in the shack.....he went and bought a Marine Magnet and on the 23 try at 25 feet he dropped the magnet in the mud and came up with his keys!!

This is the exact reason i never carry my keys with me onto the ice, they are strateigcally hidden and whoever is with me knows where they are. I never use the same place either, this way regardless of what occurs on ice, once off ice i still have a way to get warm.

I ve only lost a scooper down the hole.  I was fishing with my dad once though when he dropped his gaff down the hole in 100fow and caught a lake trout, bouncing a heavy spoon into the mud on the bottom!!

Nice post.. we were out last year and my buddy's father was checking bait but forgot the pair of Oakley Half-wires (175$ at the time) on top of his hat!

I've been lucky, haven't lost any thing, but my son-in-law bounced his car & house keys off his boot & down the hole. My friend who started me ice fishing, had his auger adapted to his cordless drill & the drill chuck came loose when the auger broke thru the ice, & the auger kept going to the bottom. We tried to get it by hooking a magnet that was rated to lift 500 lbs to a rope & lowering it down the hole. The auger is still down there!!!

my gps, i kept it in my breast pocket on my coat and went to check my tip-up and forgot the ice scoop in the shanty . so i leaned in and out popped the gps, it sank like a rock and didn't even slow down when it hit the water. i just looked at my wife in shock and she just laughed, she didn't think it was to funny when i told her how much i paid for it a year before. the thing that really makes me mad is i took the lanyard off that day and i could see it on the bottom in 20 feet of water.

lost a lantern down the hole, they go fast!!! Last year my cell went down and what really mad me mad was that my buddie really started laughing hard when he pointed it out to me on the flasher as it went down.

Let's see, multiple minnow buckets (wire handled ones), same namptha lantern three times, got it back each time, wife's 3 day old cell phone ( but I got the fish dear!) One snowmobile for about a hour.  This wasn't all the same day, this is about 20 years worth of "oh craps"

It would be real interesting to see what the bottom of Simcoe looked like, hear stories about horse teams, bulldozers, house moving rigs, etc.  How many outboard motors?

We've lost so many depth finders, lighters, and ice scoops but the best time was when my uncle dropped his cell in... fish seem to drop in the hole once in a while.. thats about the worst..

I've never lost anything but I knew a guy years ago that was a scuba diver...he belonged to a scuba diving club that would tour around and go from lake to lake throughout the summers.

He said the ice fishing spots were always easily identifiable in the late spring/early summer before the weeds got tall....sadly because of all the garbage. Beer bottles, cans and various common litter.

He said it wouldn't be uncommon to find keys and coins.....ever drop a penny down the hole and watch it flutter down on your vex? 

The thing I remember most about our conversation was he said that every dive they would collect items of interest and give an award for the most unusual find......he found shiny black object and after everyone surfaced and reviewed their junk he produced his shiny black mystery...nobody could figure out what it was and then someone twisted a cap off of the bottom and a cruddy battery fell out. He won the award, he found a vibrator.

So...if anyone lost a big black vibrator on Goguac Lake in 1988...PM me I have his name and address somewhere.

I knew I should ignore it, but I answered that cell phone anyway, for what? The normal " are you done fishin yet " , and there it went, out of cold hands and down the hole. The moral? Turn to silent and check the voice mail when you get to the truck!!

The Year before last, while changing jigs, jig box open on the knee, i dumped about forty tear drops down the hole and some tear drops of my own.
