Frabill ice suit
« on: Feb 17, 2013, 05:58 PM »
So today I didn't go Ice Fishing but went shopping with the wife and boy did it pay off for once. I picked up a complete Frabill ice fishing suit for 170.00 dollars a Gander Mt. And they have all of their ice fishing gear on sale just to let you all know that too.

Great suit ! I love mine , I really like the ability to set my own layers relative to conditions . Whereas with the heavier sub zero suits ur stuck with a lot of warmth and bulk that you don't need on moderate days .

I also picked up the FXE Windproof Fleece to use as a liner for the parka or just wear over the bibs alone . It's a great addition to the suit .  ;D

Thinking of getting one of these! Was looking at grey ones. Anyone have this suit? Do you like it? Where is the cheapest place to buy one? I see Cabelas has them at $279. Any info would be appreciated, THANKS!!!

I have the red one. Not sure what the grey one is. I have had mine for three winters and it is without a doubt the warmest suite I have ever owned. Quality wise if it is a Frabill it is good.

I just got my Ice Armour Float Suit.  It seems like a great suit, but definitely not a warm suit..seems more like a shell suit than anything.  Have to layer up under I guess.  If it is warmth you are after, than frabill is the way to go.  But if you fish lots when it is warm outside, the frabil might be too warm.  Be nice to have one of each!!

i know you`re asking about frabill but i can`t say enough good things about my striker hardwater suit.  almost too warm even for our winters so probably should have gone with the hardwater lite but oh well.  extremely waterproof and floats as well...not to mention the hidden cup holder on the inseam of the right leg!

haha that was the selling point for me...fits a beverage can perfectly.  lots of handy pockets too and i love being able to kneel in the slush all day long when fishing tip ups and not get wet.

i ordered mine from korky`s in the states and got it within a week.  i`ve also ordered from redrock store in minnesota and had great luck.  also heard striker has great customer service if it`s ever needed.

i guess they figured out how to appeal to the target market!

http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=204694.0   the second review from that link was what sold me on the suit, real good pictorial review by thedl.  and yes it shows the beverage holder!

I have the striker hardwater bibs as well, they are on the bulky side but man are they warm. Fished last Saturday at Tobin minus 32 in the morning and didn't even get cold plus the floatation is extra insurance when fishing first ice.

Well, ended up buying the Frabill suit from Wholesale today at $250! I should have just walked out as I was trying them on for about 25 minutes and no one came to assist me!!! ??? It was about  5 o'clock and I probably could have stayed where I was and they would have locked me in there for the night!!!  ::)
