Bloomington/Normal area ice fishing
« on: Aug 28, 2023, 12:09 PM »
New transplant from Minnesota...here for college. What's the ice fishing scene like down here. Is there usually ice every year or is it hit or miss? Read about Lake Evergreen mostly and saw there's some walleye and musky to be caught.
What can I expect to catch down here in an average winter? And how long does the season last?

Thanks!

I did really good a couple years ago at Evergreen. Mostly crappie and white bass. Only caught a couple saugeyes. The problem you are going to have in our area is if we get enough ice. Last year was bad only a couple days of good ice, the year before was really good, I fished 30 days on the ice.

You Should get to fish evergreen this year. Add lake Bloomington and Dawson lake to your list. Just keep in mind, ice goes just as fast as it comes around these parts.
If I had a penny for every time, people thought they would get rich from getting pennys for every thing they claim they do or hear, over and over again, I would be richer than Richy Rich.
HUH?
