Need a light to see the markings on my old FL-8
« on: Jan 29, 2006, 06:54 PM »
in the dark of the shanty (Not the flashing part but the part that tells you the depth) Any ideas for a small clip on light or something?
I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.

vexilar makes a light with a flexible neck that attaches to a Vex. I don't have one myself, but they look they would work well.

Book stores sell a clip on light so that you can read a book in the dark (in bed like my wife does) and not bother anyone. It would work on your vex.

Yeah after ice dawg posted about it I went to their website and saw it. I may pick one up before we freeze up again.

My wife would kill me if she knew I posted this!

The other day she came up the stairs with a light on her head she uses for night reading when I want to sleep. As she was coming up the stairs she belched really loud and scared the hell out of me! I thought a one eyed belching monster was coming up the stairs! No kidding! We still laugh about this.

Perhaps I'm confussed. Do you mean the numbers on the face? Why not repaint them with glow in the dark paint??????????????/
80% of Americans are unhappy with the direction our once great Country is heading. Yet 80% of Americans insist on buying blue jeans that were made in China, coffee filters that were made in Taiwan and anything else that was made anywhere but here........wonder if there might be a connection?

I'm going out on a limb but you might find the paint in a Hobby Shop!

Wouldn't any glow in the dark paint have to be "charged" first in order to glow?? I'd go with the flex light.
There is nothing in the world I'd rather do than ice fish!

Unless you find some very good glow paint you may spend a lot of your time recharging the numbers. I think the Vex light would work better. My two cents again.

I use a clip on light with a pivot head for rebaiting at night. Why do you have to see the depth marks?
I just watch the screen and also cannot see the depth numbers but it really is not needed to see the numbers.

Its kinda nice to know how deep your fishing without having to screw around by starting at zero and working your way up and remembering what range setting you are at. Not needed but kinda nice to know. :)
