Jigging Smelts

What do you guys that jig up smelts use for tackle and set-up? I was using a standard jig pole last yr but want to try a different approach.

if you are fishing outside use ajigging pole most small flashers will work baited with a piece of smelt skin
if you are in a shack use a rubber band hung from the roof. fasten your line to this. i use a bobber with a clip on both ends. hook one end to the line the other to the rubber band use the same flashers and bait works good if you need more info pm me old ken

how deep do you have to jig for smelt
jiffy model 30 the only ice auger because the bells and wissles wont  cut ice.

 I like to use a really light jiging rod with either a single hook with a piece of fresh sucker or smelt meat or a flo.orange teardrop with a very small line minnow (1-1.5in) on it, usually about 6 inches or so off bottom in 30 -40 feet of water.
Theres only 3 seasons..open water, hunting and icefishing!
