What are these?
« on: Jan 30, 2006, 06:03 PM »
Does anyone know what these jigs are?  I picked up 3 of them from the Gander Mountain bargain bin a couple years ago for like $.75 because they looked interesting.  I have not seen them anywhere since and I don't have the packaging anymore.  There are no markings on the lures themselves and the one on the left is a glow jig.  I've had some success with them for pike in one lake, but I'm afraid of losing them since I can't find them anymore.  Any ideas?

They seem to work on occasion tipped with a minnow.  Maybe I just found some over aggressive feeders  ;), but I would like to get some more.  With 11,000 members no one else has ever seen these before?  HELP!

You can make them yourself. The body looks like Mylar tubing.

Is that a lead body or more of a spoon. Looks like lead that was poured onto a jig hook?

It might be tubing.  The body seems like a hard plastic with a rattle inside and the head has some weight to it but it doesn't seem as heavy as lead.

If they are mylar those could be easy to make. Get the correct size hook  mylar tubing and 5 minute epoxy. Cut out your body paint with felt markers and coat with epoxy. The blade could get attached with some stainles steel wire.
 Just a thought.

Bob you can make them yourself. Go to gander mountain they have the leaded jig hooks already made up, pick yourself up some Mylar tubing or plastic tubing, get a few blades and rap the eye that hold the blade with tying material to the hook shank.

Very interesting design.  I like the blade instead of a tail for jigging.  Keep us posted if you find out what they are.
