Deschambault Lake
« on: Jan 03, 2019, 11:22 AM »
Just wondering how the access and lake is to drive a truck out to the Ballantyne.  Is it tough to get around yet with a truck or is there no snow like everywhere else.

We are heading up to stay at DLR to do some ice fishing next week.  I have never fished up there and was wondering what the fishing in the lake is like.  Are there fish everywhere or are they orienting to specific structure/depths?  Any help would be great, 2 of us are coming all the way from the states and everybody else in our group is from PA.  We only have 3 days up there and I am worried we are going to spend all 3 days looking for fish.  This is my first time to Saskatchewan and the farthest North I've ever been so I'm really looking forward to it!!!  I will report back with a conditions/fishing report from our trip.

don't fish the DLR side of the lake.  Fish Bloomfields side and you will do fine.  Any depth between 10 and 25 ft will get you fish at either willow island or ballantye bay.  If all else fails, find the ice shacks and fish in that area.

are you still able to drive a truck out to willow island?  Can you drive around off the trail or is it sled only?

has anyone been fishing willow island or the Ballantyne lately?  Is the bite still steady or is it a tough fish?  taking the kids up again so just trying to guage where to go but was hoping to leave the sled at home.

We are planning a trip North and not sure which lake we want to try.  Anyone fished Deschambault lately, and how was the fishing?

Fishing on the main lake has slowed down.  It may pick up in the weeks to come.  Oskikibuck was good on the weekend but lake is rock hard so it is not a good sled ride.

I assume the lake is clear of slush?  Any areas to stay away from?  Heading up this weekend with a crew of guys and sleds.
