Yellow Fishing line
« on: Jan 15, 2013, 07:28 AM »
Hey everyone where can I find either 2, 3, er 4 lb yellow fishing line. I've been to cabelas and a few other stores and cant find any. Does anyone have a link to a website or a store that they know sells the yellow line.

Thanks.

www.dandrsports.com/

D and R sports in Kalamazoo has a couple different choices in Yellow.  I use the Viscious Fluorocarbon in 2 and 3 lb.

Gold Stren: I fish the kinks in shallow water. Cabeas has it.
I like to sit around on the ice doing nothing because my wife won't let me do it at home.

I went to Cabelas and couldn't find it, but some how i still spent a bunch of money I dont wanna go back again I get trapped in that store lol.

I like the yellow line when I jig because you can see what your line is doing and I seem to catch more fish with the line.

Only place that I have been able to find it was in the mom and pop bait stores. The last I bought was at Lymans in HL

Yourbobbersdowndotcom has it.  I use the yellow Asso Ice Heavy.  It sinks and has almost no memory.

Sufix Elite Fishing Line comes in hiviz yellow.  I spooled up two reels last year in 4lb...no complaints and it shows up better than the stren...bought it at Gander but fishusa has it in 4lb

Good catch. I use to use 1 lb but it got so I could not see it good so I went to 2 lb test. It is amazing of what that size of line can hold

Cabela's & Bass Pro both handle the yellow Stren.  At one time they did away with the #2 lb.    4,6 & 8 are usually no problem to find. I have been using it for over 40 years.  Even open water pan fishing. When you get older it really helps  in reading the line. If your worried about spooking the fish. Tie on a clear leader , about 2 ft. to the lure. I have been using it, lately,  all the way to the lure.  I haven't noticed any differenc in hook ups.

A couple of years ago I bought a spool of red ice fishing line. When I went smelt fishing on Higgins lake I used one pole with red line and one pole with the yellow line. I watched the smelt come thru the hole and they would swim clear of the red line but the amber colored line did not seem to bother them. Most of the fish caught that day came on the amber line

RL...gota love landing those toothy critters on light line...had three like that last year when jigging for perch ans eyes, even used the same "Ice Blue"...there was a 4th, but it never made it through the hole after it blackened the 8" opening...it was a monster...all on the bottom

Indeed Jeff. Usually land a coupl elegal pike every year on the light stuff, quite a thrill, and the Ice Blue makes it come true!
