My new ice fishing brew
« on: Nov 21, 2008, 12:40 PM »
I went down to Incredibrew in Nashua and brewed up some of my own beer last week. I haven't bottled it yet. I go on Saturday the 29th to bottle it. I figured I'd show all you guys the label that I designed. It's pretty funny. This is gonna be the our icefishing beer for this winter. I've got 72-22 ounce bottles coming to me.

The beer itself is modeled after Newcastle. But I also integrated a very light apricot flavor to encorporate another favorite of mine, Magic Hat #9.

After kicking around some ideas and some images, I came up with this one. It's a buddy of mine who is a ice fishing fanatic like the rest of us.

I'll be sure to let you guys know how it came out!

Here it is. Voi la.  (I know that's not how you spell the French word for hat.... FO-NE-TIC-LY)

Seriously!  That is the single greatest label I've ever seen!

Awesome! :D  I've always wanted to brew my own beer.  I've never gotten around to it though.

How does this incedibrew work?  I think I'll check them out.

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

IncrediBREW is the name of the company. You basically chose from a book of 80+ recipies of beer. They have everything from Bocks---->Wheat Beers. They have every type of beer for every pallet. You pick your brew. Measure out your grains, hops, flavors, according to the recipe. Then you essentially make tea with it. You boil it, add your yeast and let it forment for 2 weeks. Then you go back and bottle it. It's obviously more detailed than that....but you get the idea. You make the beer. They take care of the hard stuff and the clean up! It's great. I was there for 2 hours last saturday brewing it and I'm going next saturday to bottle it (and sample a couple I'm sure!). You make your own label. You make your label, email it to them and they print them out for you to stick on the bottles before you bottle them.

They have a website you can check out. www.incrediBREW.com

My cousin has done 3 batches so far. He love's it. The first time is most expensive because you have to buy your bottles. But if you keep your bottles, you can wash them THERE and re-use them for your next batch.

They just did a piece on them on New Hampshire Chronicle on Thursday.

I'm on the site right now and trying to decide when I'm going.
After you get the bottles it's cheap!

The key is to keep you bottles!

When my batch was all said and done, it ran me $208. Good old gift certificate!

$208/72 bottles = $2.89/22 ounce bottle.   1st time
$125/72 bottles= $1.74/22 ounce bottle.  2nd--->nth time when you keep your bottles.

That's not bad.

Some brew are more expensive than others. You can go with a more expensive yeast or a cheaper one. So there are some variations to the price. That above is the math for my batch.

Looks good to me.  Don't take offense to this, but it appears as if you took my two least favorite beers and mixed them... lol.  Who knows, it might become my favorite for that reason.  I've just never been a big appricot, peach, blueberry, or brown ale fan.

Woodstock Inn Red Rack Ale
Limited Edition Harpoon Brewery beers
Long trail Ale
Sam Adams
Guinness/Smithwicks

Thos are my favorites in no particular order

Yea!  My other favorite hobby that keeps me in good beer, homebrewing.

I got sick of bottles.  It's much easier to keg.

Just need to figure out how to get a faucet in the clam.  Built this in the basement to come home to and warm up at.

Geez knureen, why don't you just kick my dog?! That's ok. I'm not sharing with you anyways!  :D   My next one's gonna be a nice stout. Probably a Murphy's or an Arthur G. I'll think about hooking you up then!

That's a nice bar you got there mmb. Perhaps when my homebrew operation takes off I'll build a man- town of my own. A nice TV, maybe a billiards table, a juke box, a nice bar like yours, [cough cough] with an OHIO STATE flag hanging behind it! You know...... Sorry fella. I had to. I hale from Columbus. Godbless though.

I wish that I was attending the Pittsburgh trip with all you guys. I could bring some up there for us. It's just to close to the Derby for me. I can't swing it.

Notice the white n' green Team Michigan logos... I'm not a Blue and Gold fan.  That game was just funny.

In my belly.  I eat um', not paint um.  :D
