SWPA 1st time drilling holes.
« on: Jan 16, 2024, 10:58 PM »
Next Sunday will be my first time on the ice with my own auger. I went twice 2 winters ago and relied on the kindness of others to drill my hole. Anyone have any pointers for a first timer drilling holes?

make sure you have sharp/new blades..also just because they are new doesn't mean they are sharp...also take a kid to drill the holes for you!

A quick hone with a stone will make your life a lot easier.  Treat it like a kitchen knife and take your time until you get it down.  nothing worse than having your auger bounce all over the top of the ice and fight you.

Good luck!
