Iowa Great Lakes Ice
« on: Nov 29, 2005, 08:14 AM »
I'm from up Nort' aka barely across the boarder in minnesota and I'm just wondering if anyone has seen any ice on the east or west okaboji, big spirit lake, or even silver lake over in lake park. I'm looking forward to the perch and crappie action on angler's bay on big spirit.

far as I know everything is wide open
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

Heard tell of some folks starting to fish around the grade and Anglers bay on spirit, but nothing strong quite yet.  Also heard of Smiths bay and the canals starting to get good enough to fish on W. Boji.  That is all third hand info but all I know....wish I had more!

I'm pretty familiar with the area down there but where exactly are the "canals"?

They lead in from Miller's Bay toward's Emerson's bay....basically boat canals for the locals and such.  Never fished them myself, but I do know they can be dy-no-mite all seasons!
