Well, I am hoping ice is only 3months away, and I am ALREADY getting the itch! Fired up the gas auger and it fired like a charm! Vexilar and aqua-vu batteries have another fresh charge on them. Going to put runner skis on the bottom of my one-man shack this week to keep from wearing holes in the bottom of it. LIne will go on reels early next month. Hoping for an early hard winter!!!!

I hear ya goody! I'm starting to get the itch too. I alway find myself searching the web for anything icefishing related this time of year. I Have even seen a little action on the I.O. site

Yeah, there are a couple of us over there trying to cool things down a bit with some ice talk. Think it is annoying some of them over there

Kinda odd I got the itch to??? Must be old man winter telling us all its gonna be a nice long season??

Hopefully...........th e last few have been a real dissapointment, to say the least.... Hopefully be driving out on the pond before christmas!!!!!

I just hope to be on the ice by early December. I am sick and tired of having to wait around until late dec/early Jan for good ice. I am already planning a trip north in mid december and will drive until I find safe ice!!!!

Wowzas! Possibility of overnight temps dipping just below 40* this week! That is more like Sept weather! Lets keep those temps down....get ice here early and the deer moving better under my bow stand!!

It'll be here soon enough. Nice frost on the pumpkin this mornin.
I need warm weather to finish some jobs but am lookin forward to the lake freezin. Been too busy to fish this summer. Hope that gets better when it cools off.

Well I thought id drop by, and sure enough, Goody was already here talking bout ice, who knew!

But I cant stop talking about it either. Heading out fishing tonight and bringing the vex and ice rods, Ill be jigging over the side of my boat for slabs underneath my vex LOL and in my coveralls nonetheless! I look forward to having to bust ice to get my boat in the water before it fully freezes, then I will know for sure its upon us!

Yeah your right lee, I will wait for ice out to bust ice, like when you had to wait for boat wakes to break the ice in order to cast for slabs

The bird bath was pretty iced up yesterday morning which is a good sign for starters. The toughest wait is between soft water and hard water that is safe enough. $:-\$

I agree oldbear....the only thing that keeps me sane during that time frame is bow hunting and pheasant hunting!!!!

Im guessing around the 15th of December as far as my first ice trip..... First hole drilled wellll i think thatll be december 12th? HOPEFULLY!

Crazy talk! You can pheasant hunt when it is cold enough for ice cant you??? Less competition and prettier

Ice gods came.....dropped snow and the temps quite nicely...now we just need this cold air to stick around and get the ice going!!!! Ice fishing by 2nd week of december if that happens!!!!

The lows forecasted for tonight are making me drool. I'm not winning any popularity contests at work because everytime it gets cold and crappy I say, well the weather is finally starting to look up! I remember a couple times when we were on the ice the day after TG but it seems like it gets later and later each year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for mid December.
