Snowdog Reverse Kit - I just got mine.

I received my Reverse Kit.  Looks well packaged and I am looking forward to installing it in the Dog next week.

 I Think your really going to like the reverse ability. Saves a hole lot of energy not having to drag your sled to the dog.

How much did it cost?

It is just over $600 for the kit (need to check with a dealer for price).

It is not far from the cost differential between the Standard Snowdog with reverse and without reverse- the delta is $500 on the new machines.

I need reverse for my new storage arrangement.

I hope to start on the install tomorrow.

That is a really good price. Last dealer I called quoted me almost $1000 bucks. Who is your dealer?

I actually did it and it works!!!

I HATE working on cars and small engines. I love wood and stone but I pay to have my cars fixed and cared for. But, I was able to follow the directions and get the Snowdog a reverse.

Removed the skin:




Pulled the engine with a come-along. Changed the oil while it was easy.  While there are 2 dipsticks and 2 oil drain plugs, there is only 1 oil reservoir. I removed both drain plugs and could see right through. Changing the oil would be hard without pulling the engine.:

Installed new transmission and plate. This was not hard but I broke a bolt (pain in the neck) and stripped another bolt. I am not gifted in working on this metal stuff. Regardless, I persevered and got it in. The instructions seemed easy with tasks like, "Tighten the chain" but with no explanation on how to do it. I am sure there are the motorheads here that know it is easy, but I still made it work. Ultimately, I had to remove 2 links of the chain to get it to "tighten" properly. I did not want a loose chain popping off miles away from home in sub-zero temps.

Got mine installed. Works like a charm. Hardest part was taking 2 links out of the chain like you did and adjusting the linkage. Reading your post convinced me and I am glad I did it now.
