There is a thread on this on the IDO website. James Holst said Otter had a 2 year contract through Rapala which expired. Said price of an Otter would increase 20% if they renewed so they decided to go it alone.

Good for them! They seem like they are a good, upstanding company from what I have heard from them, and their products are top notch. Kudos to you Otter!
