Governor Cuomo rammed another bill through in the dark of night. Called SAFE ACT II, Secure All Fishing Equipment. New regulations as follows:

Only 1 tip-up or tip-down may be used. It may have a spool holding no more than 10 yards of line, but you can only put 7 yards on it unless fishing in a bona fide ice fishing derby, then you may use 10 yards.

Automatic jigging tip-ups or tip-downs are banned. Current owners may keep theirs as long as they are registered.

Bringing any fishing implement within 500 feet of any school (of fish) shall be a felony.

What's this clown going to come up with next?

Don't forget the $500 reward(funded by taxpayer money) for turning in someone who has more than 7 hooks on their line.

I found this in another subsection:

"All fish caught and harvested must be tagged with the appropriate game tags within two minutes of landing.  The tag may be inserted in the dorsal fin of the fish."

How could I forget that?  Also, because of the way the system is set up you will have to call separately for each fish you catch.  Good luck with a limit of perch.

Its called sensible terminal tackle control.
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the ice like an idiot! I won't tell you which side of the line I'm on.

Yeah because the current prez is so In touch with reality.

Don't forget about the fine print under the license paragraph on page 4
"If you can't afford fishing equipment or a license just sign up at the busiest lake the DNR
will confiscate 1/3 of the ice fisherman catches as they off the lake and provide fish for you."
Sign up will be after 12:00 pm to give you plenty of time to get out of bed.

If you read paragraph 8 subsection C, it states "All jigging poles must be registered with the state police with the exception of any jigging pole dating before 1898 which would be considered and Antique. All poles must be registered by April 1st, 2014 or the owner faces a class C felony."

Power augers manufactured after this date are banned. Current owners may register and keep theirs. They may not be sold and must be destroyed upon the death of owner. This is to keep some mentally unstable individual from going on a "mass drilling spree" and turning a perfectly good frozen lake into Swiss cheese, therefore rendering it un-safe.

Last, but not least, if some unscrupulous individual shall violate numerous fish & game laws, thereby leading to the decimation of an entire species, then you, the law abiding ice fisherman shall be punished for his  crimes.

These new laws enacted by executive order of Andrew Cuomo....All hail the king!

Who, by the way, is not anti ice fishing, he owns a tip-up and keeps it in a dark corner of his closet.
Jesus ain't the only one who walks on water!

I'm glad to see everyone outraged about this, he needs to be voted out this year and the only way it'll happen is if your out there making sure everyone you know votes. The democrats have gotten very good at getting the inner city poor out to the polls and us middle class working people have not been turning out at the polls like we should

Yeah it's too bad that the mostly progressive liberal New York City metro area controls the population and therefore the vote of the State of New York. Same thing here in PA, the whole state is Republican except for the population hubs of Philly, and Pittsburgh. :-\

Agreed, but that is just half of the battle. Getting people out to vote is one thing, but a low / no information voter can also have a negative effect as well. Progressives have a great strategy in spinning the neWS and facts.

It sucks that the progressive libtards control all the media. That's why its up to us who are informed to use whatever forms of communication that are available to us to spread the truth. Internet forums, blogs, letters to the editor or having political arguments with your buddies.  If you are afraid to talk politics and issues for fear of offending people then you deserve whatever crappy government you get.

Page 10 paragraph 3 rule 10:3. 11, all fishing hooks will have a code stamped on the shaft, so if you hook a fish or another fisherman and you leave the hook in them, they can trace it back to who bought the hooks.
