got the hand auger for my brother, and got new blades free. got the tip ups from my dad, and replaced the hooks and put on leaders. used an old flexible flyer from when i was a kid for a sled. welded a piece of tool steel onto a length of steel pipe for my spud bar. wear the carhart coveralls i got from my girlfriends dad for free. got about 600 various tear drops from cabelas for 5 bucks last year. yeah thats not a typo either. bought and ht ice rod on sale for 8 bucks, and use the trout reel i already have. so all in all i have about 30 dollars invested minus bait and gas costs.

a douzen of us pitched-in $100 each and build an ice shack, got a gas generator, and a wood stove. Plus, we each go out rod and gear for another few bucks each.

doesn't matter - it's all an investment into my happiness and mental maintenance.

why spend money on therapy when we can just buy more fishing equipment that would get the same results

Not something I really care about or think about. It brings me enjoyment and I can't put a price on that.

Unless of course I want to add it to my homeowner's ins.

Well let's see here. A 10" auger, Clam X2, Vexilar, Aqua View, Big Buddy Heater, clothing, poles, tip-ups, lures, and bait...man I think that when I am gone someone is going to have some nice stuff!

My wife was with me when I procured some more "stuff" today. She made the comment, "Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper for us to just buy the fish or eat out and have it cooked for us"?

ive been ice fishing for as long as i can remember (im 20) and have somehow managed not to accumalate a mass quantity of ice fishing stuff. my bass fishing on the other hand.... everyone around me says i have problems, i just tell em yeah the problem is you dont understand!

ATV, 1 perm shack, 1 flip over shack, 1 portable shack with floor (for the kids), 1 shack that mounts to the ATV, couple of augers, endless jigs and tackle, lots of warm clothes, a few heaters....etc I dont think i want to put any exact $$ amounts on it in fear that the wife may see that lol. No matter what i have spent though, always seems like there is something else that I want to get lol Next year i hope to build a bigger perm shack my excuse we had our 3rd son this year and we just really need more room now for one more person right??
