Couple of things i'm going to try this winter is a glow stick in a tube jig, got a 1/4 ounce tube jig where i added a float adapter and a glow stick to the bottom, then hook on a dead minnow and gently slide back in the tube.
I drilled a hole on the side edge of a williams half/half ice fishing spoon to sit horizontal in the water and added a snap, then got a treble or single hook and run the eye of the hook up under the minnws gill and out the mouth, next slide the eye through the o ring and up to the snap and close. (treble, odd hook down, single hook up). Quick minnow change and keeps minnow on and alive longer.
And try ice cream pail/ lid for a minnow pail. Usually pay a couple of bucks.
