As far as I'm concerned we are in the worst time of the year. No ice and not that many open water choices. Lets hope this time doesn't last to long. It's time to get out and search new opportunities.

If you live up by the state line it's not that far of a drive to get on some decent ice.

This is Monday on the state line in LaGrange Co.,  but yes if u went up 131 for 1 1/2-2hrs their is enough ice for 4-wheelers, 8-13inchs.  I think I'll stick to the boat, maybe.

This season started so strong, tough to take such an early end.   The last 4 years have been really good on average though. Ice fishing is special because it is fleeting.

My biggest pond was wide open this afternoon - AGAIN -- in Noble County, IN.  I'm sure it will freeze over again but I have doubts we will have more than a couple of inches of ice the rest of the season.
I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.
