Bummer
« on: Jan 22, 2020, 03:00 AM »
Looks like my icefishing season may be done. Been having an issue with my left foot since hunting season. Finally got bad enough that I went to Dr's. Partially torn tendon in outside of foot. Its the one that stabilizes your foot. Dr says stay off it unless necessary(work). Totally bummed, so I will live vicariously thru the posts on IS. Hoping after a few weeks of rest, ice/heat therapy and Advil, I might be able to get out in February. For now, good luck everyone, I look forward to your posts!

Sorry to hear that. I hope your recovery is quick so you can get back out there.

Good luck in the recovery. Spare no expense in getting your feet right, it’s worth it in the long run. I paid the price by wearing cheapo crap shoes for too long.

Money spent on quality footwear is worth its wait in gold imo.

Priorities! I delayed my ACL Surgery last year so I could fish and got surgery end of March. JK, definitely take care of yourself. Maybe it'll heal faster than you know it. Although, sitting on the ice with your foot in some snow is a great way to get some cold therapy!

How about a motorized scooter with chains, that way you can jig and reach down to pick up the traps???

Had a season of surf casting canceled with torn meniscus surgery.

Typically it's for the best and unless something completely unforeseen happens, you will be back again in no time!
Take care now so you can continue for years to come!

Good luck!

Patrice Bergeron played in a Stanley Cup hockey game with a broken rib, torn cartilage and muscle tissue, a separated shoulder, and a punctured lung.........Now good luck with the boo boo on your foot and just be glad we are ice fishermen and not elite hockey players.   ;D

Sorry to hear it benny! I did see a guy today with his broken foot. He had a cart/ leg scooter thing on wheels. He rested his leg bent at the knee on it and used it like a scooter pushing with the other leg... I thought of you just putting some skiis on it...... Where there is a will, there is a way!

Thank you all for the well wishes. I enjoy icefishing, but not as much as I enjoy hunting. So, I will listen to the Dr and do what it is needed so I can go out in the spring and scout, move stands, and most importantly hunt. I will live thru you all for now. God luck with the derbies!

Joe it is a lot easier to get around on the ice with a torn rotator cuff and a bicep that's partially torn than a injured leg. I have been hobbling around for 2 years on a bad knee fishing. The derby isn't the Super Bowl.

Played in the Super Bowl with a broken leg that is "Sucking it up".
