It was strike 4 for me today out there.
Bummer!  How did the rest of the crew make out.  Have any of them had any success?  Inquiring minds want to know.   ;D

It was slow. The only pups and burbot that were caught have been in the crew's camp spot and it didn't seem to be real fast fishing this weekend for them. Their still stuck fishing until I80 gets opened back up. Lucky them! I'll tell you, fishing for the big ones can really put a cramp in a catching fish ice season. This has been a low fish # year for me. Hence why so little trip posts. I sure got plenty of scenery shots. Lol

Well it looks like I'm finally going to get a weekend at the gorge with the crew a week from tomorrow. Kind of funny, the seasons winding down and finally getting my sleeper shack out on the ice. Oh well better late than never  :woot: :woot:

Looks like we wont be burning much propane, its going to be pretty warm if these predictions are right. I'm liking the berry's temps better but that will have to be for next trip if these kind of temps continue that ice will go quick

Friday- Partly sunny, with a high near 52.
Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
Saturday- A slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 52.
Saturday Night- A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.
Sunday- A chance of rain and snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 44.

Just a heads up from what I've been hearing. The ice is starting to get sketchy in anvil. We never seen over a foot of ice this year going south off the point there. There's a pretty good open water spot north of the big ridge and south west of the point I would stay clear of. There's apparently quite a few ridges going out of the ramp at Holmes also so it's looking like south buckboard- buckboard area for us this weekend. Be safe, it's going to be warm this weekend for sure and warm south/ south west winds.  Now it's all 2nd hand info but this time of year I'll take that info and go north to look for more favorable conditions. There's big fish up there too  ;)

Well it turned out to be a great weekend at the gorge for weather, not so much for catching. No lakers for me this trip, seen tons again but none wanted what I was offering no matter how I presented it to them. I did get a couple burbs but definitely nothing pic worthy. There were to good sized burbs caught in camp (30in & 26in) by Lawrence and Joe. The rain/hail/snow started in around 7am Sunday morning and that was enough to get us all up and packing out. The ice did deteriorate thru out the whole weekend. We had 15in everywhere I drilled all over south buckboard/big bend. There was only 2 ridges we had to go around to access other areas on the ice. The ice was getting very capsilated by the time we packed it up on Sunday. If the temps dont drop down a bit that ice is going to go fast. The roads going into the spot we parked were a mess. We got stuck for about 30min until another buddy came in and pulled us back

Went thru pics and wouldn't you know it I never seem to get many of fish when I'm not catching them. Scenery shots it is

Great sunrise on the way to the ice

Finally got everything unloaded and ready to fish

Someone was looking pretty comfy in his easy chair

Jeff had the ice berg rod holder going and it was a leggit 15" but that ice was deteriorating quick

It was pretty warm when we got back to camp friday afternoon, pretty much t-shirt/tank top/no shirt kind of afternoon

Sky's cam did not like being plugged into a 12v power source when it requires 5v, that was a 1st on the ice. Sounded and looked like a 22 caliber flare going off. Hopefully he can get his Bay Runner mended to finish out the season at the Berry  ??? getting a replacement top is tough this time of year

The bubblers looked pretty cool with that green light glowing on the bottom

The moon was spectacular on Friday night. Didn't get much of a view of it on Saturday as the cloud cover kept it out of sight.

Even with the cloud cover and light breeze Saturday the fire pit worked great for hanging out watching poles bounce from the burbs

Then the drive out, man was it some sticky, slick stuff. Ryan unhooked his trailer and came back to give us a tug. It was only a 30 min delay but man I wish I would have left my boots on. All of our feet were soaked from stomping around in the snow and mud trying to get out in that little amount of time.

What another great trip to the gorge and a good weekend to call it quits up there, cant wait to see the footage and pics you got Joe. Those night exposure pics of camp were really cool on that go-pro!!

Sounds like a pretty rough day or two of fishing, weather, and mud! I got stuck in probably the same area near the south Buckboard road 4 years ago. Buried my truck to my frame. Had to walk a ways to get cell phone reception and was able to call a friend in Green River to pull me out! Had so much mud in my rims that the truck was vibrating badly as I went down the highway! Immediately hit the car wash! Lol

As always, great pictures Matt! Thanks again for a great time all of you guys! Even though the fishing was a little slow, I still really enjoyed hanging out with you. Here’s a little video I took. I think it turned out OK even though it was not full of fish porn.

Awesome video Joe. You got some really cool footage. Thanks for taking the time to get it and for posting it up. Way fun to watch. You know you put in some hours on the ice when you have a awesome lazy boy ice fishin chair all rigged up like you do... Glad to see Wade made it again this year that guy sure piled up the pups last year. Matt you also got some great pictures. Looks like everyone had a great time and an awesome adventure! Probably going to take Lawrence a few trips to the car wash to get all the mud washed off his nice truck..

Skylar = Sun's out,,, guns out!!
Also totally legit Jaw Jacker stands you've came up with another great idea as usual..  ;)
Thanks again guys for sharing!
I hope i'm half as good as my Dogs think i am ;-)
