I saw Ice all over Twin, just south of Penguilly Friday night and it was wide open last night.  I drove the 4 wheeler across a frozen puddle this weekend with out breaking through.  On the way back, the combination of me already driving across it and the deer on the back, put me right through it though.

Its not the skim ice that is important, its the fact that the lake water is cold enough to form it that is a big deal!

That says to me that the first cold snap we get, that ice is gonna set up FAST!!!  ;D

booyah!!! i'm ready this year.  just got a new scout, so i'm all set up.  still need a power auger and shelter, but those can wait till nxt year.  we gotta have some kinda prize out to the first person in the lower 48 to hit the ice

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.

Anybody have any more updates on whether or not there's any ice up north yet? it's been a little chilly here in the metro, and usually it's about 5-10 colder up by my folks place in grand rapids
