I was in the alex area this summer. fished osakis for the first time. what a beautiful lake. caught oodles of northerns but couldn't manage any walleyes. the northerns sure kept my younger bro's entertained though. Also fished lake victoria. We pulled in many 1# plus gills at the north end. really steep shores on that lake!

Live in Bloomington, have a cabin on Osakis.
First ice last year was awsome!
My son bought a camera, and man, you wouldn't believe
the fish that snubbed your bait!
But we caught enough that were hungry! ;D

I bet. It's sort of depressing seeing all the pictures of fish in the bait shops in the area and then we got skunked! haha. I would love to head up there ice fishing. know of any shack rentals in the area?

I was in the fergus falls area a couple summers ago and fished stalker lake. caught some huge gills and my dad caught a 30" gar on a spoon. that's the first gar Iv'e seen taken on a rod and reel.

THE spud: I've actually been converted to the auger folk but still do carry a spud to connect a few holes togeter. gotta love primitive tools. Actually my favorite spud bar is an old unit my dad made when he was young. it's a pretty heavy sucker but... it's a 2" wide blade welded to an old piece of PTO shaft off of a tractor. granted it's not easy to find these items always but man it beats a lot of the cheap spuds available now. good luck spuddin'!

I have also used THE Spud to make a large square 'live well" to cull my fish and keep just what I need just punch a small hole through to let water in up where you guys fish it might be to cold ??? In PA many days hover around the freezing mark so this is possible

Starbuck is where I reside now but I grew up in Glenwood which is the better end of Minnewaska for fishing in my opinion.

I am new to the forum, I am from Duluth.   I found the site last year and snooped without participating.   Hoping for cold weather tonight.   Any word how the ice is on LOW?
