I heard that Joe's on Medicine Lake won't open until Friday the 16th.  Only 2" to 3" inches on Medicine.  I also heard there's a good 5" on the Chisago channel - ATV's and portables on the channel.  That's where I'm heading Sunday morning.

I was just on Baxter up by Zimmerman.  7"-9"!!  Hammered the snot outta the sunnies, but they were a little on the small side.  Did get one nice 11" crap, though.  I've heard they're fishing on Independance.  Be careful, though.  Check my post out about Buffalo in the MN general

I went out on Lake Minnetonka (Grey’s Bay) Thursday; the ice was 3” – 5”.  I just came back from there and the ice was a little thicker… 5” – 7” in places though I did come across an area that was only 3”.  I landed 3 hammer handle pike and 8 medium sized bluegill Thursday and today I was only out for a few hours and landed a few bluegill and a couple of crappie, one was pretty nice about 11.5”

Hey-
1st reply!!  Went out to Crystal lake in Burnsville yesterday.  There was 3-4" of ice in most areas.  Ran (literally) across a few soft and soggy spots.  Scary!  Caught some small sunnies.  Great to be out.  Supprised there was not more ice.  Hope to go fshn again soon.

We have snowmobiles all over the lakes in the north Metro, but I cam by Knife lake last night and there was only foot traffic and not a snowmobile track on the thing.  Norris Lake?  When I was younger, if I wasn't at the Rum, I was at Norris.

So, what does yesterdays snow fall do to the saftey of the ice?  I ahve heard conflicting theories.  Any thoughts?  Thanks

I am a Michigan man but I have a job interview on Monday in Lakeville, I was wondering where would be a good spot to get on some ice for a few walleyes, any info would be great I have never been in the area.   My wife and I are looking to relocate so I figured I better scout out some lakes while I'm out there  ;D

Anyone been on Calhoun or other Metro lakes in the past week or two? This warm-up has me a little worried about going out on the ice. It can't be as strong as a good long cold snap like we had in the beginning of the season.

I was fishing Spring lake today. Still about 4-6 inches of ice people driving 4-wheelers all over. Saw on the news that a bunch of cars and trucks fell through on the shore of prior lake. Diffenately dont want to be driving on the ice thats for sure.

Went to Cedar lake in Scott county tonight.  Caught a few small crappies.  Some guys about 20yrds pulled out a 20" walleye.  Highlight was meeting up with Mud87.  It was fun to put a face with the name.  The ice was about 7-8" thick.  It was soft on top in a few places.  Sink down enough to get your boots wet.  All in all it was a great evening.  Plan on going out on Sat. to either Prior or Spring lake.  Good luck fishn to you all.

Went to Spring lake today.  The ice was 7-8" thick.  A real slop hole on top due to the snow on Friday.  Really messy.  Got inot a few crappies.  Nice size.  Not a bad way to finish 05.  Happy New Year to you all!!!

Fished a couple of hours at Round Lake in Anoka. Caught about a dozen keeper Blue Gills. Use medium crappie minnows. Wax worms only produced tiny fish. ;)
Love to fish.....
