Nils Master hand auger
« on: Nov 15, 2003, 03:55 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knew how tall these augers are. They look like they would be too tall for me to operate comfortably.

Also ar new cutting heads readily available?

I want to buy one but these two things are holding me back.

If not the Nils I will get the Strikemaster Lazer.

My NM with power head measures roughly 59" from base to handles. Last season they were hard to find but this season they are available. ;D

I have both a Nils and Lazer in 6 inch model. I just checked em out and the Nils is about an inch taller, thats it. With the Nils dont worry about not being tall enough. If you can turn it straight, no downward pressure is needed. The heads are readily available. Plus the heads wont need replacing anywhere near as often as blades on other models... My first nils was a used one with about a 10 year old heavily used head on it and itn still cut great...

I've owned a Normark for years which has the same head design as the Nils and let me tell you they cut ice with no effort. To me a gas auger is extra weight The Nils or Normark cuts as fast if not faster

Fellas,

Where can I find the Nils with the price?  Ebay has the strikemaster Mora for $40 + $5 for shipping which is $20 cheaper than the Laser.  How does the Nils stack up?
I don't like it here, so I will probably be here for a while.........

I've got a 6" Nils and it cuts so much better than my lazer that it 's in a class by it's self!    I was at Cabelas yesterday and they had the Nils with the powerhead $499!  More than the other power augers but if you know how the Nils cuts worth the xtra cash!
There is nothing in the world I'd rather do than ice fish!
