Drifter/Dave thank you for the short video and photos absolutely beautiful. Do you see more Auroras at certain times of the year.

Steve, we don't see them in the summer.

Cause it doesn't get dark!!!!
  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

We see them quite often the rest of the year as long as weather permits.

Thank you for the quick reply I forgot you live far enough North to have periods of extended daylight and darkness.

Beautiful pictures.  I could sit there all night and watch these dance across the sky.

Getting closer to having electrical up and connected. Have to use some regular breakers until I next go to the US to pick up a bunch of combination Arc Fault/GFCI breakers for my wet areas. Got all the Arc Fault breakers for the rest of the cabin on sale when I drove through MN, WI and MI in December. And yes, I like my wiring neat and organized.   @)

Pulled the dock and headed for town on Sunday.
Weather was going down hill.

Will finish the ceiling insulation during the ice road season.

Had planned to pull the dock today but am glad I did it earlier.
Pretty chilly to work in the water with those wind chills plus the ride down the lake would have been pretty bumpy.

Time to get the sled ready.
Got a new primary clutch on order for it. :)

Smooth move, Dave!! Winter is rapidly coming up your way!! Once the lake freezes and the ice road is in, are you going to stay at the cabin and finish up what you can on the inside??? Plus some ice fishing and grog!!! ;)2   :icefish:

Drifter/Dave I know this has been a hard year for you between the health problems and other things and you may not have accomplished everything you wanted to so far this year. You still completed many tasks and are closer to having a finished cabin. Thank you for all the photo updates. May the rest of 2020 and 2021 be a better time for you.

OS, won't stay out there until the rest of the insulation is in.
Pretty sure I won't be able t keep it warm enough at -40 with 3/4 of the ceiling uninsulated.
I also need to haul out some more pellets for the stove as I'm down to 15 bags.
Might try and see how the stove works over the Christmas break but the road doesn't go in until February usually. Last year they decided not to install it at all. Was talking to the dude in charge a month or so ago at the ramp and he said that they got a lot of grief from cabin owners about it not being put in so that will never happen again.   ;D

Am waiting on a quote for my tongue and groove for the interior.
I won't be getting it next year as I am pretty sure it's going to be close to $20k for the stuff I'm looking at.

Got plenty of work to keep mw busy next year anyway.  ;)

Finally mustered up the energy to head over to the cabin for a few hours.
My neighbour has plowed the road into his cabin but I decided to ride up from the boat launch because I needed to break in the new clutch and belt on the sled. Not much snow yet but I got the first round of packing done. Bouncing of rocks all over the place. The snow was knee deep but there's no moisture content and it packs down to nothing.

I have been looking for an update, so beautiful and peaceful.......as I sit here looking at open water and rain in the forecast....ARGH!  At least I have the World Juniors to watch, have not missed a game yet.  Team Canada is effing loaded - even with the injury to Dach and a few others missing the tournament.  I really do need to move further north, 30 years ago this was North, now it is just the grey and rainy Midwest.

Thanks for the great pics.

Fingers crossed for a Canada vs US final.

Be safe all,

Icer

Got out of isolation from my travel South so I went to the cabin today.  ;D
Pack down trail, hang with my neighbors around the fire and take some measurements for a wood order.
Good times, wind was cold, no sun to be seen and a bit of snow.
My awesome neighbors were nice enough to plow a road from their place to mine so I can park right at the shore of my place. Going to make hauling materials a lot easier. Got a lot going in this year, 3,000 sq ft of interior panelling, 1,000 sq ft of flooring and 3 dozen sheets of plywood along with hopefully some custom cut pine for the front wall.

You can see where I had to park before, way out where those little black dots in the distance are.

And a shot from the lake.
