Banks Lake Reports
« on: Nov 01, 2017, 11:17 PM »
It doesn't freeze every year but when it does it offers the opportunity to target Walleye, Burbot, Lake Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Yellow Perch, and Kokanee.

  • Why can't it go from warm to instant fishable ice?

I fished Bank's last Sat, ice was 5'' out in the middle off of Coulee Playland. I didn't start until after 11am and the bite was pretty slow, I was fishing for whitefish. I was a newby for that lake so it took me a while to figure it out.

Well, I fish both sides of the line so I can talk either or ;D   There are some real Dick's on Facebook that just can't seem to avoid, I like it here better. At least you can relate your latest outing and not have to be told how dumb you are. Where do you fish the ice mostly? If you don't mind me asking. I am a kokanee fisherman and would sure like to find somewhere in Washington to catch some through the ice. I would like to fish Davis L but there is no parking there.

Looks like you did good at banks I would love to try fishing there. I have not fished much this season but I fished diamond sacheen and horseshoe. It’s been tough this year staying bombile with all the snow.

I drove by Davis lake last Saturday and there is enough parking for three or four rigs at the public launch and room for a few others along the highway toward the south end of the lake. A couple friends fished it for the first time on Tuesday and caught at least one Kokanee I would like to try it for my self too

For Banks, are people catching walleye through the ice or mostly just white fish?

White fish from what I have heard butt I think a person could do great on the walleye if you sought them out

I fished it last night for whitefish and it was dead. Around 50 anglers on the ice and the 15 or so around me only caught a couple. Plenty of fish on the graph just not biting. Ice was 6" on the north end.

North end is wide open. 200 yards of chunk ice on the south end that won't hold up for long.

Washington shanty doesn’t really get used all that much. Not sure why. I’m over in idaho and from the sounds of it on other social platforms is good to go. Although there seems to be a bit of traffic on the bite not being great. “Overfished” what some claim. Never fished it myself so I couldn’t be too sure.
