You’re going to get a different answer from everyone. My Milwaukee has been great. Dewalt will get their fanboys, then the next will make fun of you and say ridgid. Next guy will say they got a compact kobalt on Black Friday for peanuts and it’s worked for them. I’d say get something with 1000+ lbs of torque.

I was just looking at the Milwaukee M18 fuel actually, it seems to be the best bang for the buck....right?

Best bang for the buck is probably the Ridgid Octane with the 9aH battery kit. $200 for all of it and lifetime service. I have one with a clam plate and 8" Mora and it absolutely rips.

Add both items to your cart and the drill is free:

Dewalt 996, great and can be sourced for under $150 with 5ah batteries from time to time.

I'm running the new Ridgid Octane with clam plate and clam extension on an 8" lazer. Runs great with no complaints. Best bang for your buck. I paid $169 for drill, charger and 9ah battery. Just make sure you drill has enough torque for the 8" auger. All the top brands are good and will get the job done.
