The Silver in North Central IA is in Worth county.  The lakes max depth is 6-7ft I believe. Perch,Northerns,Bass thats the main species.  I've fished there probably 10 times in the last 5 years.  Alot of smaller perch but you can get some nice eaters if you wanna sort thru them.  Good luck.

Fished it about 10 times in the last 5 or so years it's not a special fishery but you can catch fish.  It's basically a featureles shallow natural lake. 6-7 feet Max depth basically set up wherever.  The perch come through when they want to.

I will be driving by there today so I will stop and drill a test hole on the north side of the lake.

fishnfool3,  If you drive around the lake, on the south side is the boat ramp and aerator.  BE DARN CAREFULL on the south side as the aerator hole shifts with the wind.  One day you will fish on ice the next the hole shifts and your old holes will be gone.  Most people fish from the north side of the lake.  You will see a parking lot and new fishing jetty.  From the direction the jetty is pointing is a sharp bend around the campground and picnic shelter.  Go to the south east of the picnic shleter or east of it and you will be in the spot most fish.  You will want to be out about 100 yards maybe before you will hit about 4-5 feet of water.  Like mentioned before there are no structures and the deepest is about 6 foot.  Bring minnows small jigs, and a tip up if you lie pike through the ice.  They are not big but are fun.  The perch if hot, you will catch them as fast as you can get your line in the water but for  about every 15 you catch 1 will be a keeper.

I will post ice condidtions when I get time.  It might not be until tonight.

We made it up there after fishing Clear Lake. We were called off the lake by some others that were doing well at another pit so only fished it for about 45min. I want to get back up there when I can stay awhile. Thanks for all the help guys.

Kuenans Quarry is what your talking about I believe 1.5 miles south of Northwood off of Highway 65.  You need a park users permit to fish it though(10-15$).  Unless you live in Worth county.  Theres some nice dolly varden that come thru the ice there.

fishnfool3,

Crappiebuster is correct in that you need a permit.  Where are you from?  Just a heads up that if you do fish there be darn sure you get the permit since I know that they check it everyday and check people for the permits.  There was a group out there last year that didn't have the permit and each one of them had a court date which if I remember correctly amounted to over $100 after court costs.

The fee goes towards buying the trout.  They are not stocked by the DNR but the Worth County Conservation Board so please help the cause and pay the permit, as it is only $10.

You can get the permits in a little box on one of the park rules sign, west of the shelter house fill it out and mail it in.   ;)

The permits are in the registration booth on the west side of the parking lot.  Fill out both halfs completely and put your money in the envelope and drop in the green tube.  Be sure to keep the top half with you at all times, which is good for November 1st til April 1st.

How could you miss all the signs.  You drove by one on the way in and there is another on the south beach by the cabin.

Also be sure you park in the main lot as you aren't allowed to drive beyond the signs on the west side of the pit.
